Trusting God

I choose this rating because this book has been well written, I have been asked many times in my Christian life , why does God let bad things happen to good people, now I can anser in detail. I drew so much from it myself, I can say it has matured me in my walk with God. well done to Jerry Bridges.

I picked this version of Trusting God up at a steal of a price- at the right time too. Having struggled for the past couple of years with various aspects of my relationship with God and what my faith means (and how it works), suddenly being thrust into what is a deceivingly deep study of the sovereignty of God was just what I needed. Bridges links various life experiences and examples from the Biblical text to the topic in such a way that you can't help feeling something of a kinship with those experiences. Personally I thought that issues such as unanswered prayers and "acts of God" were well handled and exhibited a very mature faith. I loved the book so much in fact that I will be purchasing paperback copies so that I can read it again and actually drill down into the topic some more. There is a certain deep rooted satisfaction and peace that comes from realising that God actually does control every aspect of our lives. Ponder that whilst you read the book- it is perhaps one of the most important books I have read in the last decade!

I’ve read this book 3 times and it is a must read. I have recommended it dozens of times and have bought a copy for different friends. It helped me to be able to understand God’s purposes through hardships and to develop character.

'Trusting God' by Jerry Bridges was clearly written and very helpful. This book would help anyone who struggled with believing that God is in Charge of ALL things, that He always has our ultimate good in mind, whatever the circumstances and to realise that God is all loving and all powerful, that His ways are not our ways, and that He will see us right through.

I have been a Christian for nearly 30 years now & this book has gelped me understand God, his character & nature like no other.

Great book! I'm particularly enjoying the audio version. It was downloaded easily and was accessible straight away. Fantastic.

A tough read but very worthwhile. Not for a quick browse as it is extremely challenging.

As usual, the sincerity and godly wisdom from Bridges will encourage those experiencing difficult circumstances and will cheer the heart. Well worth reading, then follow up with his Respectable Sins and The Transforming Power of the Gospel.
