Wanted a good family game and Excelsior I found it.
What an excellent game, Firstly we are a family of 3 marvel fans two 30 somethings and a 4yr old. We have bought a few marvel board games and found them hard to understand at first but this game is different. I watched one video of a couple playing it online and after 20mins of that knew exactly how to play and what my strategy would be. We both really enjoyed how easy it is to play and the ease of the set up (it's hard to play the same strategy every game with a 4yr old girl demanding you get a spiderman every time!) The game took around 20mins and is fast paced enough to not get stale. The cards feel good and high quality and the infinity stones (poker chips) are sold, weighted and also have a high quality. If you are looking for a family game I would stop at this one and just get it. EXCELSIOR! UPDATE, the 4yr old is now 7 and can fully play on her own and knows the rules and can win with no help from an adult. I know it says 10plus but they can pick it up younger.

A great variant on the standard game
We've owned (and loved) the standard version of Splendor for a couple of years, and because our kids are huge fans of the Marvel films this appealed to us. It's a great tie-in, with a natural link between the gems in the standard game and the Infinity Stones. The game-play is simple, smooth and different enough to the original while still being recognisably Splendor - it's the same basic game underneath but with slightly different rules and mechanics that merit a slightly different strategy. The quality of the pieces is good too. The card deck is suitably robust with some quality illustrations of a wide range of Marvel characters (not just ones from the MCU films), and the coloured chips are surprisingly weighty, which gives a real feeling of quality. You don't necessarily need both the standard and Marvel versions of Splendor, but they're different enough to satisfy players, especially if you're fans of the films and comics.

So much fun
This is a fantastic family game which requires strategic thinking but at the same time is a lot of fun. I have played other games like Monopoly and Articulate and this is not far off one of my favourite board games. There are a few rules but once you get the hang of it the fun is endless. If you like Marvel then that is an added bonus. The quality of the tokens and cards is also really good. The only downside to this game is that it is a maximum of 4 players but even then it does not take long for one game.

Same game as the classic original
Great game. Original may be better suited for non-Marvel fans just for colour clarity of the tokens. Other than that this is the classic Splendor game that we love playing as a family. Nice game length of around 20-30minutes.

Good family fun
My 10 year old daughter really likes this game. It's for 2 - 4 players only, but is just as good with 2 as with 3 or 4. The more players the longer it takes - 4 players would typically take a good hour. The Marvel version is a lot more expensive than the 'classic' version even though I believe it's the exact same game, but the Marvel illustrations are great, and even though she's not seen any of the movies, she is familiar with some of the characters which adds to the interest. First time reading the rules and looking at all the cards and counters and it feels like it's really complicated, but once you start playing you realise it's actually very simple. There's a fair amount of luck involved, but you can play different strategies too, so a nice balance for families.

Good fun for adults and kids
We have a range of ages in our house from 9+. To begin with, some of the fam were a bit bamboozled by the rules, but once played it has quickly become a favourite in the house. Quick games and everyone is fully engaged and competing!

Great game for the family.
Great game. My 6 and 8 year olds love playing. Although I've not played the original version, the Avengers theme seemed to make it easier to learn the rules. Pieces and cards are good quality. Takes about 20 to 30mins per game. Kids play on their own and don't need an adult (although I'm always keen to play) . Nice to play a game based on skill and the decisions you make, not on luck. Definitely reccomend!
