Pentair PCB, Max-E-Therm NAT./LP, Control

I was quoted $850 from a pool service company to replace the board on my Master Temp heater and I was hesitant to do it because my heater manufacture date sticker says it is 17 years old ...! The guys at the pool company agreed it may not be the best idea to invest in that heater and in a last ditch effort to buy me some time before I spend $5000 on a new unit was to order this 'used/good' Pentair board for less than half the price of a new one. It was here in 2 days and it took me about 10 minutes to pop it in to my heater ... I had the whole thing apart anyway so it was just a matter of pulling each connector off the original board and attaching it to the new one. It fired right up and my heater is working great!

Have the older Max E Therm pod. Everything and I mean everything on Amazon is for the newer models. This is the only one I could find the correct leads/connectors. Display is better with more menu options, but kept throwing HLS codes. Replaced HLS sensor and got even more codes. So I bypassed the HLS (Google is your friend) at my own peril until I can find a compatible HLS. Otherwise works great.

Existing control board on my Pentair MasterTemp 400 was probably 2008 vintage, very early revision with the red 7-segment display. The controls no longer worked I wasn't sure if it was just the membrane pad or the controller itself. Had a pool guy test and he told me I needed a new board. This was a drop-in replacement. The main difference, however, is this product has switched to a LCD display (like a calculator or old-school digital watch). My existing membrane control had a red tint and it meant I couldn't easily read the display. So I purchased a new membrane pad with a clear window to go along with it. DIY installation is pretty straightforward. Unscrewed the front and back panels, unscrewed the top, yanked all the connectors out and plugged into new one. Pulling the connectors was probably the hardest part.

Used this to replace a 10 yr old Pentair Mastertemp 400 control board that was failing. Solved the issue, easy to install. Information was not clear that it also included the keypad. Could have used more instructions for older systems especially when the Pentair control center is turning the heater on/off. Need to set the Spa and Pool temps as high as allowed so the heater just functions as on/off locally.

installed in December of 2023. Board is bad and out again. Understand there is a 1 year Pentair MFG warranty. I am at 1 year , 11 months. Tried to call Pentair but hard to reach had to wait for at least 20 minutes and no call back feature. Terrible support from Pentair for this Tempmaster 400 Control Board. Very frustrating! Need Pentair to contact me to help! Too bad there are no other options for this part.

Nice and easy to install! This was the perfect replacement for my pentair 250. Was also a nice upgrade to LED display.

Great replacement for my Pentair MasterTemp 250, very easy to install, including the membrane pad, which came included with the board. It would have been nice for the website to say it was included; it would have saved me the time and trouble of ordering a separate one, which I now have to return. Overall, an excellent investment, knowing it's a Pentair authorized product, and not a knockoff, which would be a real performance gamble.

My Pentair 400 heater has not been working for the past 4 years. Just never had the time or money to fix it. I did a lot of research on the web to see what the issue might be, Everything led to the problem being the control board. I took a chance and purchased this board. It arrived very quickly and I i removed the cover from the heater, 4 screws, and then 2 cotter pins under the touch panel cover. flipped it upside down, unscrewed the old board and removed each wire one at a time and then installed on new board, put the top round cover on and powered it up and the heater fired right up!!!
