Perfect fit in my file cabinet

For the life of me, I don't understand why this product is even necessary. I don't know why file cabinets don't automatically have rails, but they often do not, so here we are. These file bars were a little tedious to assemble. They would slip as you tighten the screw. It wasn't super bad, but it was a little frustrating. Once assembled, they are easy enough to use. I have had them for a little over a month now and they are supporting my file folders without any issues.

Bought a super cool HON file cabinet second hand but didn’t realize it lacked file bars and thus was just a pretty office talking point. Found this hanging bar solution after extensive research.. and couldn’t be happier! Sturdy, easy to customize depth, straightforward assembly that gets easier as you struggle a bit. The second set of bars was a breeze to construct per my drawer length needs. After snapping 4 pieces off each rail I lightly sanded the end edges as they were a bit sharp. Tip - the unit should sit flat on the ground if all the bars are lined up right. If it’s wobbly double check your bar lineup. Unless you royally bent the rails when snapping off a section, something is likely off. Another tip - if possible remove your file cabinet drawer to place the completely assembled unit in the drawer. And once you are comfortable with your configuration and have everything aligned hand tighten those screws as tight as you can! They are heavy duty very nice quality. That’s what’s holding the structure together. When I close my file cabinet drawer the top of label on my hanging folders has 3/4” breathing room. There’s 10.5” from the drawer bottom to the bottom edge of the drawer top. This is the longest review I’ve ever left on Amazon. I am so thrilled my reclaimed steal of a deal file cabinet now functions and brightens up my stark white office.

It was easy to screw the rods in place. Very advantageous to have the ability to adjust the length of the rods to your needs, but it was not easy to do. I could not bend and break off the rods in the notched areas. I finally had them sawed off.

Exactly as described and exactly what I needed for my file cabinet. Easy and quick to assemble. Feels sturdy enough to do the job. Recommend.

I just received the hanging file "cage" and put it together. It took me less than 10 minutes to put together (including reading the enclosed instruction which thankfully had a diagram). The instruction recommend having a second person assist during part of the assembly but I was able to do so by myself ("girlie" female in her late 50's). The reason for not rating this product 5 stars is because one of the bolts may have been stripped at the stem because no matter how many times I turned the screwdriver, the bolt did not tighten. I will probably buy a nut or rig something to keep that one corner together. I measured the interior of the credenza the "cage" was going into so I did not have to cut the bar to fit. However, the enclosed instructions were clear (and easy) to follow if you need to size it down. I suggest you use a screwdriver to tighten the bolts rather than using a coin (as one of the options per the instructions). I tried using a penny coin and it was too thick to fit in the slot of the bolt head. Overall, I am happy with my purchase as it allowed me to use hanging folders for easier access to my files (instead of stacking them they way I was doing). I would recommend buying this product but beware in case 1 or more of the bolts are defective (easy fix at your local hardware store). I just bought this so I cannot attest to its durability but the metal bars are strong so I hope it lasts for a long time.

The hanging bars are sturdy once assembled and do the job of keeping my hanging file folders organized & easily accessible. Assembly was easy for my husband - who has a bit of hand strength - and just needed a pair of pliers to snaps the bars at the desired indentations for the length we needed. Would buy again.

These file bars were just perfect for my filing cabinet! I needed to cut them down to size, but it was very easy to do with a pair of vise grips. I was also able to assemble them by myself with very little difficulty, and I am a senior in my 70's. Also, a very good price point, as my local office supply store's product would have cost me at least $30 more. Very happy with this purchase.

Purchased a tall, 4 drawer filling cabinet which was missing the rails in two drawers. Picked up this kit and they are perfect, almost identical to what is already installed. Didn’t need to adjust the length.

This item does the job, but you get what you pay for. The base brackets arrived distorted. Also, even though assembly was very simple in principle, it was very awkward as none of the pieces stand on their own, and I had to hold 2-3 pieces together with one hand, while tightening the screws.
