Why We Needed It After I accidentally set off our SimpliSafe alarm, the base station barely made a sound and my wife and kids did not even wake up. That was a wake-up call for me, literally. I knew we needed something louder that would actually get everyone’s attention in case of a real emergency. Setup and Installation Setting this up was really easy. I just opened the SimpliSafe app, added the siren, and it connected almost instantly. The app makes it straightforward to assign it to the system and it even lets you test it right away. Mounting it on the wall was a little tricky if you tried to rely on the adhesive. It did not feel secure enough, so I went with the screws included in the package. Once it was screwed in, it felt solid and I did not have to worry about it falling off. Performance This thing is seriously loud. When we tested it, it was impossible to ignore and I can say with confidence it would wake up anyone in the house. The tone is sharp and high enough to be heard through most doors and rooms. It adds an extra layer of peace of mind compared to relying on the base station alone. One of my main concerns with Simplisafe was the potential for smash and crash. You can look it up on the internet, it is a big concern with alarm systems. The thief finds the base station during the entry delay or shortly after the alarm goes off and smashed it before notification can be sent out. Even though alarm sirens are loud, usually it is only inside the house and is unlikely to draw attention with the doors and windows closed. I added two of these sirens and hid the base station. One siren is outdoors and the other is indoors. When the alarm goes off, the base station and both of the sirens will be sounding loudly. It would be hard to pinpoint the location of the basestation with multiple sirens sounding earpiercing noise. The external siren will attract attention to the house and no thief would want to stick around. I paired the sirens, cleaned the mounting surface with alcohol, and the siren mounted securely.

Ordered this to supliment my systems built in siren, which itself is not very loud, but still very low sound emitted from this additional siren. Would not really scare anyone off and your neighbors would probably never hear it. Simply safe products all seem to be high quality and durable and super easy to install, they just need a louder siren option.

These external sirens are very loud. I purchased this one, but as an add on to my system. But then found out that there was one in in the system I ordered. So I ended up returning this one unopened. However, I will say these are easy to install. They are very loud and worth the adding to your system to potentially scare anyone away that may attempt to gain entry into your home. I like the Simplisafe System overall. I however dod not recommend their cameras. Siren is a go! Thank you Amazon for allowing me to return it since I didn't need it after all.

I have 6 of these sirens. Three inside and three outside of my home. Sufficient, I believe. One of them just died for no apparent reason after three years. So I will be replacing it immediately. When operating a Simplisafe system in a very large home, there are challenges in terms of all sensors reaching the base station. It will require some effort and take some time to get it right, or else you'll be getting some false alarms or non-connection alarms at inconvenient times. Overall we have been very satisfied with our system. The sirens are quite loud, which is a good thing.

This item is bigger than it appears to be online, but works perfectly fine. Functions well with the overall system.

We got broken into. Unfortunately we didn't have a system at that time, so we did some research and settled on simplisafe. I got the extra siren to put in the garage. OMG its so loud. My poor dogs ran for the hills when we tested it. I'm sure the neighbors hated it. Its a must have if you have a two or more story house. The door chime from the base is not loud enough for me to hear downstairs, where I spend most of my time, unless I'm listening for it. So we got another one for downstairs. The great part of these sirens are they are adjustable. My siren downstairs will not sound so loudly if the alarm is triggered, and I can hear the door chimes to know if someone has entered my house. The best part is they are so reasonably priced. As crazy as it sounds, I plan on buying 6 more. Three outside the back of my house, three outside the front of my house. I'll wake my whole neighborhood! We've had enough of these break ins. Kinda hard to get away when the entire neighborhood is standing on their porch watching you run.

I tested this and my teeth hurt it was so loud. I expected it to be louder than the base unit but more than expected. You can barely stand being in the same room when this goes off. This is great to sue away intruders.
