Router, Fixed Base, 1-3/4-HP, 11.0 Amp Motor (DW616)

I bought a slab-flattening jig and went to install one of my two routers. Neither lined up with the holes in the mounting plate. I know I'm a little eccentric, but I like to have multiple tools for specific jobs, so I wasn't happy about taking my router off of my router table to use with the flattening jig. I was also not happy about using my smaller router I use for making edges on smaller projects. So, I didn't adapt the mounting plate to install either of those routers. I bought a new one. This DeWalt was just-the-ticket to meet my needs. It mounted directly to the mounting plate. It has both, 1/4 inch and 1/2-inch collets so I can use any of my router bits. I have a couple different sizes of flattening bits with different shank sizes. Height adjustment is easy to use. The power switch is good. It's a good tool and I definitely recommend this.

Great router but doesn't have variable speed. 1/4" and 1/2" collet. Removable power cord. My old Dewalt router failed after 30 years. (Actually I broke it.)

Works nice and smooth

These are a good medium duty router. I wouldn't recommend it for fine work or craft projects but it's a good workhorse for my purposes. I used it to router shiplap into some fairly green true 1x8 hemlock. I did both sides of fifty 10' boards (1000') using a new blade in one afternoon without the router overheating or misbehaving. Decent blade change and height adjustments, ample power.

Great router! I wanted a second router so I could leave one set up for dovetails. This Dewalt router fits the bill. We actually use the same router at work (I work in a cabinet shop) for the same purpose. You can't go wrong with this router!

FYI: Does not come with half inch collet. Only 1/4 inch. I have 3 of these. Work great based on cost and saves me switching bits. I keep them set up on dovetail fixture. Fits the full size D handle and plunge bases.

I am a home woodworker who used to work in a custom woodshop. Our favored brand was Delta (later Porter Cable) and my home router was one of these smaller PC models. Worked well for many years and small enough to fit into one hand. That model recently quit working and is no longer made. Other more recent PC tools have been poorly made and seem designed for the home market and not nearly as robust as before. Hence, this DeWalt router was the closest model I could find. VERY happy with it. It's a bit bigger and not able to fit in one hand, but still small enough to handle easily. The depth adjustment is far better design than the PC model giving much better control to small adjustments. Plenty of power to handle 1/4" or 1/2" shank bits and totally pleased after one month of use.

Great little router. DeWalt seems to give better than average quality for reasonable price. It is easy to adjust and has plenty of power for any of the bits that I use.

As a router like any other power tool Dewalt is great; I am actively using table saw, router, drill etc... Satisfied about doing the job right. However do not suggest anyone to buy this one (Dewalt DW616) from UAE; it is 120V with US plug type - can not be used directly. Just for tool to work need to have convertor of least 2000W which costs additional 200-300 AED.
