Matches my glass shelves for the stereo system
I got some glass shelving units, two of them, about 30 inches high and 20 inches wide, to place in front of the TV for the turntable and home theater amp, along with other equipment. I wanted some low speaker shelves to bring surrounds up to ear level that matched. It's clear the Monoprice speaker stands are made by the same company. And like the shelves, the metal pieces cross-thread easily and don't always go smoothly together. I figured out to get the shelves level, you have to flex the panels (which are kind of like thin Masonite) to fit into the slotted plastic bushing used to hold the whole assembly together. It's a bit fussy, but you can exchange parts and try to assemble them by turning pieces 180 degrees, eventually, everything will fit together the way it should. It's not overly complicated, just a bit fussy to do because of the lack of precision in the manufacturing. I wasn't able to get one of the metal feet to screw completely on without forcing it with a pair of pliers, no matter how I did it, the thing wanted to cross thread. I had a similar experience with the shelves, when I put them together. I figure I will probably never take take any of this stuff apart again, so no big deal. Once it's all together, they are a handsome addition to the setup and look pretty sharp. One of the stands does wobble a bit because I wasn't able to get the foot on all the way, but these are just small Fluance speakers and the cats have knocked them around a little and nothing has fallen over yet on hardwood floors. If you have carpet, the feet not going on level might not be a concern for you. Given that's it's hard to find any speaker stand of the appropriate size in this price class, I'd say that I can live with the flaws just fine. The black glass, though, does show dust quite readily, so if you're not prepared to keep a fastidious house, you might want to find something in brown or wood that won't show dust as easily. Otherwise, I like them and they are just the right size for my Fluance SX6 speakers that fit perfectly square on top as if the stands were made specifically for this size of speaker.

Looks good, but manufactured poorly
Five of the metal spikes screwed right into the base. I had to use metal pliers to screw in the other three, I was not excited about putting marks on the metal spikes due to the item not being manufactured correctly.. The plastic plugs that are supposed to seal each end of the middle square tube, just sit loosely in each end, making it more difficult to assemble. The metal pole that attaches the base to the top stand, only protrudes by about 1/16th of an inch and it is not easy to screw on the nut that will stabilize the whole unit. After some difficulty in assembling the unit, it does look good and works as described.

Well made, attractive
These are well designed and made. Easy to assemble, but helps if you have an assistant to stabilize parts during assembly. Seemed quite stable holding speakers on carpeting.

A very poor design and standard.
These stands look to be a good buy, BUT the materials used and the design are very poor. At the top of the square pillar there is a flimsy thin plastic cover plate, under the glass top there is circular metal plate which will press down onto the the top of the plastic cover, as soon as pressure is applied (tighten the nut at the base) the plastic deforms tilting the top plate. If you slacken off the nut the whole assembly becomes unstable. The hole for the tension rod in the base glass plate is several time the diameter of the rod which has to go through it this further allows the top to tilt. I took these apart and reassembled then several times but could not get them both level and stable they will be returned.

Look Great!
We questioned how nice these would be for the money but were amazingly surprised. They look great and are the perfect height for our speakers. Very happy with this purchase.

Nice but instructions could be better
These are a nice pair of speaker stand. Look good and don't take up too much space. We have hardwood floors so the spikes are a non starter for us. My only complaint is that the instructions are so space that it is not the easiest thing to put together. Slightly more detail would have been helpful.

Tried to use them for my book shelf speackes. They used cheap plastic parts that would bend when tighten making the top part no sit level. When backed of the the nut they would be to wobbly. Only had a single cheap rod that ran up the middle of the stand. This isn't enough for anything to be stable. For a stand to be sturdy you need at lest to points for stability. Think of trying to balance a plate on a broom handle and that's what these speakers are equivalent to.

Cheaply made , once assembled not straight had to loosen / tighten multiple times to get it straight ..also some spikes screwed in easily, some needed pliers to screw in as treads poorly done .. made in China guess to be expected.. would not recommend.. Only good thing is appearance.
