Much better than the Google chromecast!!
I love my new fire stick! Ive had it for just about 2 weeks and it works great! I included a picture of the box that looked a little beat up when I opened the package, but everything inside was perfectly fine. I purchased this after returning a Google chromecast on Amazon and leaving a pretty bad review. Thankfully, the purchase of the Amazon Fire TV Stick Lite worked out much better. I purchased the Lite option for a few dollars less than the price of the original Fire TV Stick option. The only difference is that the Lite does NOT have a power button or a volume control. I don't think this is too inconvenient, but it might have been worth the extra few dollars just to have everything in one. Keep in mind that there are a lot of different streaming services offered on the Fire TV (netflix, Disney+, CBS all access, YouTube, etc) but while most of the available apps are free to download, most of them require a subscription to actually use. With that being said, there is a "free" tab on the home screen that gives options to watch for free WITH ads. If you don't subscribe to any streaming services though, and don't like ads/commercials, this device probably won't be of much use to you. I have an Amazon Echo 1st generation, and was easily able to connect it to my new fire stick in the Alexa app. As you can see in the video, there is a few seconds delay, but it works pretty well (and I rested the remote on the TV so you can see that it really is the Alexa taking control) Although there is no power button on the remote, the TV did shut off when I said "Alexa turn off my TV" but it did not turn back on when I said "Alexa turn on my TV". The Echo did not respond to volume commands pertaining to the TV. It's not a total loophole, but being able to turn the TV off is a little extra since I expected to exclusively need my TV remote to control power and volume. Either way, it was easy set up and provides convinient handsfree watching. Pressing and holding the microphone button on the remote while speaking allows all of the same voice commands as the Echo, without needing to say "Alexa", and the delay is significantly LESS than when using the Echo. The commands that I have discovered and used so far are: open an app; play a movie/show/song (if you don't specify which app, it will give you your options, or you can specify which app in the original command); turn off the TV; play/pause; skip/rewind; what time is it?; What's the news?; Home; open settings. There are also suggested voice commands that pop up at the bottom of the home screen every now and then if you just leave the home screen open. The remote takes 2 AAA batteries, and 2 were included, so that was nice to not have to go get any separately. A small extension cord is included incase things are cramped around your HDMI port and you can't have the Fire Stick pointing straight out. I did not need this, but it seems like an important feature to make sure noone has any trouble setting the device up. Overall, this is a great device and has made streaming very easy. It works well and I would highly recommend it.

Love the new Fire Stick Lite
After about 2 years of paying cable bills, that started under $100 p/month, and without really realizing it, the bill had quickly risen to over $250 p/month! Thing was, that wasn't even the cap! I was still getting some of the hardware at an introductory price that took a few dollars off per box, and some of the movie channels for free as a trial, but that would all be ending in 2 or 3 months. I'm sure when that happened, I would be hovering around $300 p/month for WATCHING TELEVISION!!! Uhhh.... no! So, I decided to cut the cord and get all my home's TVs on the Amazon ecosystem. I bought the Fire TV Recast and 6 Fire TV Stick Lites. I must say that the last time I had a Fire Stick it was the GEN 1 and it was OK but not as good as I would have liked it to be. That's why I was so pleasantly surprised by the Fire TV Stick Lite. They are fast and responsive (much, much more than the Gen 1s), easy to set up and get started, and seams effortlessly with Plex, Pluto TV, YouTube, and of course, the Fire TV Recast, and Netflix, which I plan to be the only monthly subscription that I will be paying for. Overall, I'm very pleased with the Fire TV Stick Lite. Alexa is installed and using voice commands to change the TV is so wonderful! I can also turn the lights off from my remote control when it's time to movie watch. I love it! Let's see the cable companies let me do that! I figure I'll be saving about $230 p/month now and all for an investment that was less than paying for 1 month of paying a cable bill. Not bad at all, Amazon.

BEATS THE 4K STICK FOR UNINTERRUPTED CONNECTION -- NO BUFFERING OR FROZEN SCREEN
THIS IS THE SMARTEST MOVE I'VE MADE IN MONTHS! The Firestick Lite bears a bit of comparison to the 4K Firestick ... A year ago, I agonized over which Firestick product would be best for me. I decided that forward-thinking would be best and went with the 4K Firestick, even though nothing is broadcast or streamed in 4K YET. It turns out that embracing the newest technology is a huge trade-off. Sound, picture quality, bells and whistles are great, BUT ... FYI: 4K IS A BANDWIDTH HOG!!!!!!!! It doesn't matter what your speed is. It could be 200 Mb and you'd still have buffering and dropped connectivity issues. What matters is how many connected devices you have along with other wireless connections near you. HARD LESSON LEARNED: THE RING DOORBELL is a signal thief and only before and after the one nearest me was installed/uninstalled could I watch anything on the 4K Stick for more than a few seconds or minutes at a time. So, when Amazon offered this Lite version of Firestick at an unbeatable sale price, I was torn about whether to even bother with it or just bite the bullet and buy a second 4K Stick. I mean, if the 4K is an issue, the Lite version had no hope. Right? WRONG! I figured the Lite version might just be less of a drag on bandwidth and speed, and it is. I've been running it straight for almost 24 hours hours I've been live steaming TV and playing movies and shows on Prime, Netflix, Starz, Pluto, CBS All Access, etc. NOTHING HAS BUFFERED, STOPPED, STUTTERED, DROPPED THE CONNECTION. It reminds me of the old days when I stayed at 3 Mb when everyone else topped out at 15 and I streamed everything smoothly because I was the only car on the slower freeway so to speak, while everyone else was crammed into the newest, fastest highway. Well, the Lite is pure DELIGHT. The same pieces as the other sticks: the stick, the extender, the adapter connector to the outlet, and the Alexa-enabled remote. This remote won't control the TV but it does everything I need. I prefer individual remotes anyway, and it's in the bedroom so any shortcomings won't matter. I never pre-link my Amazon devices, but setup is an easy snap. Just manually input the wireless Network key and you're set. Add the desired standalone apps you want and start streaming. Some reviewers also complained about the unavailability of YouTube. It's on there. I'm not missing anything that I have with the 4K Stick, but I have gained the luxury of nonstop streaming which has been a setback for the 4K stick. Now I'm comparing the streaming on the 4K stick and any interruptions to the flawless run I've had on the Lite Stick. If it goes down as expected, I just may buy another Lite Stick and use it in the living room as well. the difference in sound and picture is negligible to me at this point without full 4K, and I want smooth streaming now more than a future benefit. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS STICK.
