N265-355 V570 Continuous Hinge in Brass,1-1/16" x 12"

Just fine, I cut into two 24” hinges. Worth noting that I bought another one, identical, for $12.95 today Home Depot.

Pleasantly surprised with this hinge. They were proud enough to put their name on the package.

Expected one. 5 were in the package. A pleasant surprise (or was it a shipping mistake??)

I had a couple of extra 100 watt solar panels left after I mounted 8 on the roof of a camper remodel project, so I put them to use. I didn't have any more room on the roof so I used this hinge to attach the two aluminum framed 100 panels together, while allowing me to fold them up and stow away while being under way. I used a couple of latches (another review) to keep them closed up when not in use. It is heavy for a 200 folder, but they should last 15-20 years or so, like quality roof mount panels do. The hinge carries the weight (est 40 Lbs) well,provides full range of motion, appears to be quite durable, fastened very well to the panels, and proved to be an economical way of getting use from surplus materials.

Best price, perfect product. I bought this for a blanket chest that I made. I just cut the hinge to exact length with an angle grinder (any abrasive metal cutting blade will go through it like butter) and screwed it down. Hinge installation is not for everyone, but if you have the right vix bit and know what you are doing then this product will create a virtually indestructible and visually perfect hinge joint for your project. I would not be surprised if inexperienced consumers find it very difficult to install a piano hinge, and/or end up with poor results but that is not due to a problem with this hinge. I recommend creating something with scrap lumber that will allow you to clamp both sides of the workpiece into the exact alignment, then mark where the hinge needs to be. Depending on the workpiece, you may want to remove one side of the workpiece at that point if needed in order to use a straightedge to ensure the hinge is being is being fastened down in a perfectly straight line. Then clamp the workpiece back into position and fasten the other edge. That part is essential because it is super easy to introduce a slight curve to it, which results in a very poor hinge joint that will bind. Again, the installation issues are nothing specific to this hinge, but technique is critical to getting good results with any piano hinge.

This hinge was exactly what we needed. We restored a handmade bench that had a completely rusted hinge. I did the measurements and this hinge was the exact size. Once we restored the bench, I was able to install the new hinge. It came out beautiful! We are so very satisfied!

The hinge is made out of thin stamped metal and a wire pin. It has sharp edges and was delivered bent. The edges needed to be de-burred, the corners needed to be rounded, and the bend had to be straightened. Fixing it up was easy because the material is very soft and thin. Unfortunately, working it removes some of the plating and it will be rusty in time. If the hinge won't be very noticeable, go with this one or price shop a little because this type of hinge seems to be the same junk in the places I've shopped. If the hinge will be easily noticeable, try searching for a sturdier and prettier piano hinge so you don't have to shamefully look at your shoes in silence when somebody's looking at your work. Nice ones have to be out there!
