FELIWAY Multicat Pheromone Diffuser Reduces Inter Cat Tension with a Science Backed Approach
Managing a multi cat household involves navigating the complex social dynamics that cats bring with them and tension between cats is one of the most common sources of stress for both the animals and the people who care for them. I have two cats with different temperaments and there was a period where inter cat tension was producing visible stress behaviors including hissing, posturing, and one cat spending more time hiding than usual. After doing some reading on pheromone based interventions I decided to give the FELIWAY Multicat diffuser a serious trial run and the results have been genuinely positive. FELIWAY Multicat works through a synthetic feline appeasing pheromone that mimics the signal a nursing mother cat produces to calm her kittens. This is distinct from the original FELIWAY product which mimics facial pheromones and is better suited for individual cat stress like anxiety around travel or environmental changes. The Multicat formulation is specifically engineered to address tension and conflict between cats sharing a household and that targeted design matters for efficacy. I appreciated that the product line makes this distinction clearly rather than treating all cat stress as the same problem. The diffuser setup is simple. The unit plugs directly into a standard wall outlet and the refill vial attaches with a simple threading motion. I placed the diffuser in the room where the cats spend most of their time together and the product began working within the first few days, with more noticeable changes in behavior visible over the first two to three weeks. The timeframe matches what FELIWAY states in their materials and what I found in independent reviews of the product. The behavioral changes I observed were not dramatic in an obvious way, which I think is actually the correct expectation to have. Pheromone therapy is not a sedative and it does not eliminate cat personalities or natural behaviors. What it does is reduce the baseline tension that drives escalating confrontations. I noticed fewer hissing incidents, less posturing around shared resources, and the cat that had been hiding more began spending more time in common areas again. Over several weeks of use the overall household dynamic became noticeably calmer. The 30 day refill is appropriately sized and the coverage area for the diffuser is large enough to treat a standard room effectively. Replacement refills are widely available and reasonably priced for ongoing use. The diffuser unit itself is durable and compact and does not draw attention to itself in a living space. For anyone dealing with multi cat household tension and looking for a veterinarian recommended, non pharmaceutical intervention that addresses the root cause rather than just suppressing symptoms, FELIWAY Multicat is a well supported and genuinely effective solution. The science behind pheromone calming is solid and this product delivers on it in a practical and easy to use format.

A week in and it’s made a difference
Ok so, I’m not one to usually leave reviews. That being said, this diffuser has actually made a big difference. We’ve had our cat Banana for 9 years. Just before we could get her fixed when we first got her she unfortunately got out one time, and as you can guess, she ended up having a litter of kittens. She’s never been a motherly kitty, she was over her own kittens pretty quick and about as soon as they were old enough to start eating cat food she was quite literally finding the bag of kitten food and dragging it to them for them to eat rather than letting them nurse anymore. Lol Anyway, since then all together we’ve had a total of four cats (all spayed and neutered) and that’s been the status quo for the past 8 years. The day after this past Christmas we had a 12 week old kitten in our front yard that was playing chicken with cars and needless to say, after checking with all of our neighbors to see if they were missing this sweet baby and then asking all of our friends if they were interested taking her, it seemed that the cat distribution system had chosen us. We kept her separated for the first two weeks to get her checked out by the vet and get her acclimated and then slowly introduced her to our crew. It took a bit but they started warming up to her and now two months later it’s like she’s always been apart of the family. Except for Banana. She’s always been grouchy and would growl and hiss at all of our other cats if they got near her anyway but they would mostly just leave her alone. But now that we’ve added our new baby to the mix it seems that there’s been a shift in the dynamic and our three other older cats have started ganging up on her pretty bad. We actually had to completely separate her from all the others and set her up in a room by herself. After two weeks of doing some research, I landed on the Feliway mulitcat diffuser. We plugged it in and slowly started letting her back out and join the group. It’s been almost a week now and the difference is huge. She still doesn’t want any of the cats to clean or cuddle her, but she won’t immediately start growling and hissing if our other cats come within eyesight now. And the others aren’t guarding the food, water, or catboxes (we have enough bowls and catboxes for each of them so resources aren’t an issue) or chasing, or even staring anymore. There’s finally peace back in our house and I couldn’t be more grateful! Another few notes touching on some other reviews I’ve seen: •My husband and I did notice it the first couple days - we could more so kind of taste it in the back of our throats rather than smell it and it did give me a slight headache the first day but no problems since then •I’ve seen several comments saying the diffuser was getting too hot - it does get a little warm but so far it hasn’t been so hot that it’s concerned me. I would suggest making sure there’s nothing plugged in to the same outlet and making sure your outlet can handle it. •And the last thing I’ve seen is that there were a couple people saying it affected there dog negatively - So far we haven’t noticed any difference with our dog thankfully So there’s my long winded honest review in case it helps anyone! (For reference here’s a recent picture of our newfound peace - Banana is the middle gray cat)

Work, but with two major inconveniences
We're a lucky family of two fur children! Both of our cats are sweet--when they're apart. Together, one of them is a big bully and the other doesn't understand personal space, which the other cat very much has. This diffuser has been plugged in for about two weeks and seems to be starting to work. There's already less guarding and snipping between the two. The pheromones don't work for everyone so we're really glad they work for us, but there are a couple things that I really wish were different about the diffuser itself. One: It gets hot. Like, uncomfortably hot. I can feel the heat radiating from my hand when I reach for it. That's all it is so far--but it does make me a bit nervous. Two, and the most inconvenient feature: The light. There's a green light on the front of the diffuser that lets you know it's connected to power and working, and let me tell you--IT LETS YOU KNOW. IN CAPS. The green LED shines with the power of an alien sun. Why do I care? The instructions tell you to plug it in where the cats spend most of their time, and that is in our bedroom. At night when the lights go out, you could navigate a generous room with the light from the diffuser alone. And because it runs so hot and you don't want to block the diffusing pheromones, well, there's not a lot you can do about it. I've ordered some light blocking stickers for electronic LEDs to slap on it, because the thing is plugged in on my side of the room and it actually interferes with my sleep. I hope this is considered for future innovative changes, because curse you alien sun, I like my sleep.

Excelente producto, tengo 7 gatitos y recibí otros dos ya adultos, la acomplacion sería difícil pero leí los comentarios y lo pedí para que fuera menos stress, funcionó muy bien. Los 9 un poco más tranquilos.

I've had the same experience as the previous reviewer. I've tried this twice and the pluggy melted off both times. The first time the fumes from the burnt pluggy were very intense and I'd left the cats alone in a closed room while I answered the door. I must've been away for like two minutes and when I came back I could smell the burning outside the door. When I opened the door the whole room was filled with smoke and my poor kitties dashed out of the room. I was horrified I thought the room was on fire. The second time I tried it in a different house in a different city. Thought i'd give it another try cos the previous melt could've happened because of faulty wiring or something in my previous apartment. The same thing happened again - it melted and burned. This time I was vigilant though after the previous experience and switched the thing off the moment I started smelling burnt plastic. Even in such a short while part of the refill got burnt as well and is unusable. I see SO many reviews speak about this burning issue on amazon.com. I wonder why the company hasn't done anything about it.

It definitely works for our two unrelated tom cats. I can always tell it's run out because there's a pile of fur on the floor when I come from a long day out!

Plug diffuser is no good for KSA 3-pin (UK compatible) plugs. Cannot use the product and seller does not accept refunds.
