Which is better, all boar bristles or mixed w/plastic bristles?

Melinda here, from Belula Care, and it will be my pleasure to try and answer your question as thoroughly as possible. It all begins with your hair type and knowing which brush suits your hair type and why are you buying it.

First of all, boar bristles. All our brushes have 100% natural boar bristles, and the fact is that this kind of bristles is soft. If you are looking for a styling brush, it's hard for this brush to do that job, due to its soft texture. It will work for people with thine, fine and short hair, but it will be harder for people with longer hair to get the desired results. However, a boar bristle brush should not be chosen for styling, but for the fantastic benefits (you can read more about that in the product description), it has for your hair strands when using it. Used correctly and with patience, it can restore your hair's natural health, regardless of your type of hair. 
You will find out there some boar bristle brushes that have a mixture of boar bristles and black nylon/plastic thin bristles. They look pretty much the same at first sight, and it's pretty hard to tell the difference between them. However, on a closer look, you can see the nylon bristles are stiffer than boar bristles, and they miss the light brown tip. The ultimate test is to pull out one bristle and set it on fire. The boar bristles should burn fast like human hair, while the nylon one...well, it will burn like plastic, with a specific odor. There is no problem with this, as long as the seller doesn't falsely claim that this is a 100% boar bristle brush and you know what you are buying.
Why mix nylon bristles with boar bristles? Well, because it's a little harder for people with long or thick hair to use a 100% boar bristles brush, as they have to brush in sections. And not everyone has the patience, has the time or it's willing to do that. And that is perfectly fine! So, we added the longer nylon pins to ensure they have the same awesome experience with boar bristles. The longer nylon pins will ensure that the brush goes through your hair, separating the hair strands and helping the boar bristles coat them with sebum. Making the boar bristles and nylon pins the same length would prevent that, as the hair strands would get stuck in the long boar bristles.

So to resume all this with a short answer to your question, it depends. If you have long, thick or a lot of hair, choosing a mix of nylon and boar bristles brush might be better if you are not the patient, hair brushing ritual loving type. If you do have thin or fine hair, and you don't have a lot of it like Rapunzel, then a 100% boar bristles brush should be fine.
