MSI Computer Gk-701 Mechanical Gaming Keyboard (S11-04US220-CL4)

The GK701 is a great mechanical keyboard at a bargain price. This keyboard has a tactile 'bump' when typing (Cherry MX Brown switches) but don't make a loud click like the "Blues" I have have home do. I finally bought the MSI because as a software engineer I wanted a mechanical keyboard at work, and as of now nobody is complaining (Browns are quiet, but still louder than a membrane keyboard).Unfortunately I had to return my "Amazon Warehouse" purchase because it arrived defective, but then I found the same keyboard on another website, new, for the same price after a rebate. And based on the working unit, I'd say it's a 5* keyboard.

Cherry MX switches are supposed to be the longest lasting mechanical switches on the market and I've never had an issue with any other mechanical keyboard I've purchased. This keyboard failed after only 3 months of very light use. The spacebar began to stick, so I blew canned air into it thinking there might be crumbs or something. Nothing. I removed the spacebar to make sure it was clear and it turns out the design itself is flawed. The method they use to old the spacebar in place is through 2 "eye hole" style plastic pieces with a metal stabilizer bar threaded through the eye to hold it in place.The stabilizer bar retards the spring back of the Cherry MX switch and causes the space bar to stick. Waste of $90. I wish I had gotten another Corsair.

The media could not be loaded. Next to this keyboard, I also buy the MSI Mouse DS300, to match, but the truth is that it does not have the possibility to change the colors to the LEDs, it is only red, so if at some point I decide to change the configuration Of color, I will have to buy another keyboard, unlike the MSI DS300 mouse, that if it allows to personalize the colors, increasing its utility in the posterity.MSI Interceptor DS300 Programmable Ergonomic Laser Gaming Mouse (S12-0401290-D22)I was happy to have this keyboard, save for several weeks to make me this gift, but I am frustrated to see that it came with a slight factory defect, the * key does not work correctly, it is the only one that requires force to be used, the others work as it should be.The material is of very high quality, and that is one of the things I like about MSI, the quality of manufacture in its products.In short, I am satisfied with the MSI keyboard GK-701, but to be my first mechanical keyboard, could be better, besides, the price of this product, is not to come with no flaw.I know there are more expensive, but come on, this is the one that many can buy.

It's decent. If weight is a sign of good build quality, it has plenty. I got mine open-box, and a lot of the keys only partially light up (probably why it was returned).It's ok to type on, but MX Browns are not quite as "clicky" as I imagined...Still, I have no regrets. It's a fine product, but all mechanical keyboards are way overpriced, in my opinion and I have to say I am not blown away compared to a membrane keyboard. Many people report increased typing speed and accuracy. Mine has gone sharply down since switching to mechanical. Hopefully I'll get used to it.For gaming, I notice zero difference.Basically, what you get with a mechanical keyboard is (usually) superior build quality and durability and a slightly more tactile experience. That's it. You're not going to suddenly pwn your friends in the face on cowa dooty for having spent the money.

This is my first Mechanical Keyboard and so far is everything I wanted it to be. I bought this for my MSI Apache-033 Gaming Notebook but I was able to test it on a Laptop running Backbox Linux and even the volume controls work great.

Love this keyboard, this was bought for the mechanical feature, my son requested that. It also goes with his MSI rig, we kept everything MSI and the color scheme...May be a little loud, but he says it works great!!!

Looks like an awesome keyboard but w/in 24 hrs the space bar started getting stuck in the down position.

The keyboard has some drawbacks. The font used on the keys is difficult to read and the backlighting does not really illuminate the bottom items like comma, colon etc.
