Coach's Guide to Game-Winning Softball Drills: Developing the Essential Skills in Every Player

I like the variety of drills and how it's targeted to beginner, intermediate levels but will also throw in an extra step to make it advanced if needed. So far, so good. The practice plan examples are great too. I've been assistant coach for about 3 years, now this is my second season of head coaching. This little book has really helped me out with ideas so far. Highly recommend for young/newbie coaches that need some direction!

I was looking for a book founded in correct practice that could support my daughter (9 years) in progressing her softball skills. This book is well organized with each chapter starting with definitions and diagrams for each domain to then follow up with drills. Great for both parents and coaches. Totally worth the money!

My granddaughter plays softball in senior level high school ball. The text is overly detailed in black and white. I bought for her. Doubt if she has time to absorb.

As a high school softball coach for the past 18 years, I have found that coming up with challenging, productive drills that improve skills, challenge, AND entertain players can be daunting, day after day. This book is clearly one of the best I have encountered, if not the best, for quality, productive drills. The explanations and illustrations are clear. I particularly like the legend on each page that indicates the time needed for the drill, the skill level, and the cardio-level required. This feature, in particular, helps me provide a great variety of drills during a practice to maximize learning and conditioning at the same time. Brilliant. Do yourself a favor . . . buy this book! Our family is huge into sports mostly softball. I coach a 18u, 8u, and tball . I use this book for all three teams. Some great drills in there. Highly recommend

There was some good information in the book, but there was nothing that wasn't found anywhere else. I was looking for something more detailed for coaching pitching or for some new drills. This was all sort of retread information.

I received this book 2 weeks ago. So far we've had 2 practices and we've done 4 different drills in this book. The girls seem to like that we do a learning (Iittle more serious) drill and then a competitive drill at the end of practice (we make it a little more fun). Each drill has made a huge difference in how the girls practice. Our league only has 6 practice hours with our teams before game time. I would suggest this book to ANY coach! Especially if your running short of time and/or a beginner coach! I was on a softball team (back in the day), we were 17th in the Nation. I know what needs to be taught but I didn't know how to go about it. This helps a ton!!

As an avid fastpitch coach, I purchased this book to obtain new ideas and progressions on drills I was already implementing in my practices. I would recommend this book to any softball coach that is getting started. Michele Smith and Jennie Finch, have been documented to have one of the safer pitching motions of the house hold name, team USA, pitchers. While it is hard to look at still pictures and have them represent movement (most specifically related to pitching) it is a good book. I open it several times a week before I plan my next practice and even seasoned coaches that have attended clinics and such can reinforce what they have learned. I gave the book 4 stars because of the too few pictures used in motion sequences. More photos or video weblinks would have earned a 5 out of 5.

Dieses Buch ist ein Lehrbuch für Softball. Hier werden die einzelnen Positionen sehr gut beschrieben. Zu der richtigen Technik gibt es zu jeder Position auch die zugehörigen Drills um die Technik richtig zu erlernen. Für Anfänger ebenso geeignet als auch für Fortgeschrittene oder Coaches. Anfänger müssen sich anfangs vielleicht noch mit unbekannten Ausdrücken beschäftigen und tun sich mit den Beschreibungen natürlich nicht so leicht wie Fortgeschrittene. Ich selbst spiele seit mehr als 25 Jahren Baseball und Softball und coache nun eine neu gegründete Softball Mannschaft. Als Coach kann ich so einiges aus dem Buch übernehmen und mit meinen Erfahrungen ergänzen.

Great reference material. Plenty of useful information!
