Good item
Nice little diode host. The lens pitted, but it's to be expected if there's any power being sent. Better glass collimator rounded things out. Heat transfer was good thru the body and into aluminum sink, without lithium grease. Add that for optimal heat sinking.

Too small of a hole for an actual TO-18!
How frustrating! This collimator appears well designed, looks good, and has a nice lens focusing feature. However, the standard classic LTLD505T Laser diode which is a true TO-18 case with a specification of 5.6 +0 - 0.3 mm and a measured size of 5.60 mm fit CANNOT into a hole actually finished at 5.42 mm! The specifications for this collimator says it is actually for a 5.6 mm diameter diode (TO-18), but it is measured at 5.42. That's undersized by over 3%. High-chrome Steel on Brass and nothing budges! You have to epoxy it in place and hope it lines up? What a shame. All they had to do was drill it slightly larger! Press fit wouldn't be bad, but there are no signs that press-fit was intended. Who wants to crush their laser diode trying?

Great products!
It was worth purchasing, everything according to the pictures were included (springs and parts etc). I have not pressed a diode yet, it should work just fine. I'd drill a bigger hole if it's too small. Looking forward to use dvd burner diode and press it inside!

5.6mm laser diode can not fit.
Looks like hole to mount laser diode is smaller than 5.6 mm. I have used 7/32 inch drill bit to make a hole wider and let 5.6mm laser diode (M140 M-Type) to be pressed inside holder. Material is brass, plated with silver like metal.

TO-18 Laser Diodes do not fit
a 5.6mm YO-18 Laser Diode will not fit in the hole. Even with a solid attempt at a press fit it won't go in solidly. I am going to attempt to drill the hole out some. This seems like some out of spec product someone is trying to dump.

Where do I put the diode?
The schematic of the assembly of the laser diode would make this a five star item
