I don't know. My wife bought the machine from Create & Craft. My purchase was a one-off for her machine.

I have the brother sdx 135. would i have to buy a holder/carrier for the machine to be able to use the tools?

No you don't need anything other than the tools as the Engraver fits into the holder just like the Blade holders do, the machine may say wrong tool inserted just ok and carry on
