Review: This is a great book with a great program. The title is sort of silly, and belies what is on offer. The format of the book is to identify different kinds of life traps, to evaluate yourself for them, and to work through them. There are about ten. Including Dependency, Subjugation, Defectiveness, and so forth. These are schemas (stories, scripts, and patterns) that you identify with and perpetuate, and they can keep you stuck. You may have heard of CBT. This is essentially Cognitive, Emotional, and Behavioral therapy. The authors maintain that it is useful to work on all three levels. One thing this book really helped me understand that there are reactive and counter-reactive elements to life traps. For example, someone with a Dependency life trap may fall into dependent, submissive patterns of learned helplessness. But some people can also be Counter-Dependent, covering over insecurity by being reactively and even aggressively independent. But the problem and the life trap are still there. Review: Lovely book to figure out where your problems come from in communication, relationships, success, etc

A fantastic book presenting the different lifetraps most people fall into and how to get out of them. Well-written with real-life cases of everyday people, making it warm and accessible. The marking scheme may seem a little complicated at first, but you soon get the hang of it. I now understand my own lifetraps and have the tools to stop history repeating itself.

Very helpful, insightful, educational, and informative in switching from harmful patterns to healthy patterns in your life relationships.

The book deals with problems that many people face in life and clearly outlines the steps to overcome them. It’s an active read and requires the reader to do homework.
