Total game changer for litter cleanup
Total game changer for litter cleanup! With the Litter Genie, scooping is quick and easy, and it actually contains the smell really well. There’s no odor when it’s closed, and even during daily use it stays manageable. It’s easy to scoop into, the bags are simple to replace, and taking it out is way less gross than my old setup. Overall it makes litter cleanup easier, cleaner, and much less smelly. I wish I bought it sooner!

Wonderful solution and product
I was thrilled to find this item as a way to make litter cleanup easier. It cuts the smell down to zero! It’s great to not have a random bag used to collect litter and I often just use it for random bathroom trash also. The only thing that is a concern is all the plastic used in the bag “feeder” , so I may try using the biodegradable bags that I use in other trash cans in the house. Overall, perfect for cat owners and a fabulous idea for managing litter box “litter”. I’ve had it for about two years and it’s held up well and I’m very happy with this purchase and would highly recommend to all with cats.

Best $20 I ever spent!
This is genius! It is so simple and convenient I'd "almost" say it's a pleasure to use... it certainly makes managing the litter trays a much much more pleasant job than it used to be. I keep it right next to the litter tray and every time I walk past I glance to see if it's been used. If it has; I just grab the scoop (conveniently mounted on the side of the genie) and remove any clumps. I've had it for a month now and here are my observations: * In 4 weeks I have just emptied it for the second time, so for me it has indeed been two weeks per bag change. (My cat is an indoor/outdoor cat. I've found that since having this system, with a clean litter tray now always available, the litter tray is now first choice! Which means less cat poops to come across while working in my yard... bonus! * I estimate that I used maybe 18-24" of bag each time. (I used more bag length than needed the second time and had wasted space so I'll watch that). Overall I'd guess for the 14' cartridge length that I'll get 9 bags full which is <$1/bag... but I'll start measuring and try to get 10 out of a cartridge. * I've found it important that I use a clumping litter, and to keep it deep enough for poop to get buried and that you can easily scoop whole clumps without it bonding to the bottom of the tray - that way no soiled litter is left behind, and therefore no smell. I top up the litter as needed. * I removed the hooded cover from my litter tray and now have it open. This is for my convenience as it makes it so much easier to keep on top of things by simply scooping anything I see whenever I walk past. (I did read that cats prefer an open tray anyway; closed boxes were apparently made for us humans to help contain smells and unsightly messes). On the downside though... Litter depth is still a work in progress: too deep and litter gets spread everywhere, too shallow and clumps stick to the tray bottom as previously mentioned. * So far no marathon clean of the litter tray has been needed! Before this system I admit that I didn't scoop as often as I should have done, which meant things got a bit messy. I would remove any business but not top up the litter, then when it got very low it was time to empty the whole tray and give it a good clean. Having the genie and really keeping on top of things means the litter actually stays clean. * I periodically use a sanitizing wipe to clean it, particularly the inside black plastic cover of the bag cartridge. Simple. There really is zero odor in the house. I've even had comments from guests who are surprised when they see the litter tray and say they had no idea because they couldn't smell a thing. I have one small negative comment about the design: The catch that holds the bottom half closed doesn't work very well. It barely catches and easily comes open if I pick it up. For me this doesn't matter because I'm not picking it up and moving it anyway so I didn't even deduct a star because of all the positives for me. I don't write reviews very often but the litter genie impressed me so much by the positive impact it has had. Like my title says: best $20 I've spent in a while. I would definitely recommend it to anyone sitting on the fence about whether or not to buy one.

Actually good and bag last a month so far with 2 changes
Worth it. I've been using this for a month and just removed my second bag full of poop. Like full, these hold a lot. I estimate like 5lbs of poop at least and I have 2 cats. Heavyy when i had to carry it out. It's so easy bc I don't have to use individual black poop bags I got for dogs and then tie them and put it in the trash bag in the hall or outside. I noticed my bathroom (I have a trash bag outside the bathroom hanging by the doorknob) smelt like pee and it took me months to realized it was from the cat poop bags + heat. This really take away all the smell and im still using the litter bag thing this one came with. I also bought a xl litter bag thing I've yet to use. Awesome and easy, has a built in bag cutter inside the litter pan you easily cut then tie the poop bag. Bag is sturdy and strong.👍 Only thing is it's harder to get small broken off clumps of poo/pee with this as u have to bring the scooper to the pan and although mine is right next to the litter boxes plus I have large litter mat I always have some litter fall onto the mat. But it's great! Also invest in a air purifier next to ur cat litter box, especially if you have a open litter box in ur room like me. I would smell the horrible poop when fresh but with the purifier I don't at all.

Easy but doesn’t come with bag cutter.
I purchased two of these for my daughters since each has a litter box in their room that they are responsible for. This makes it much easier for each kid to keep the litter box clean and reduces any odor. We recently switched from clumping to pine because it is much less expensive and better for the environment. This still work very well with the pine pellets. I am dissatisfied that this unit doesn’t have a cutter built in as many “how-to” videos of this same unit show. You will need to cut the bag yourself with scissors once it is full. Make sure to leave enough for a knot.

Litter Genie Standard Pail (Silver)
We welcomed a cat into our home and I knew I would need something like this for her. It is easy to use and functions as it should. It is seeming to hold a decent amount especially since she can go twice or even three times a day...she's a little poop machine. when closed it does not have a smell but i can smell something when i open it to dispose that i am not too keen on but it is what it is...again does not smell when the top is fully closed. we also use an air purifier as i would really not like some to know we own a cat...or that smell that can come with owning an animal. It works well and I am glad i picked it up. Also seems to dispose of it shall be easy. I can easily take this outside to sanitize and disinfect for the next bag. it looks nice and it is sturdy. i added a poop bag to the holder for the scooper i also use crystal litter if that is helpful to anyone.

Great product for litter disposal
I've been using Litter Genie products for many years as my cats use clay-based clumping litter and I don't dare put that down the sewer. The Litter Genie pails, used with the cartridges of liners, is an excellent low-tech way of controlling the odor of used litter and accumulating it for several days (based on two cats use), and then tying up the full liner for disposal in the trash. I tried getting the larger pail Litter Genie also makes, but found that the full bag was too heavy for me to lift out, so I am sticking with the standard size. Ordered another one during Prime Days as the price was really good and once in a while it is nice to get a new pail since eventually the rim of the opening gets kind of yucky-guess I could be less lazy and try to clean it up. The only complaint I've ever had (and it is a minor one) is that it takes some hand strength to open the inner lid that the liner cartridge fits under, which means you are gripping that gunked up lid in order to unsnap and pull up the lid. Just wear gloves.

Must have accessory for Cat Owners
There's a lot of hype surrounding this item and others like it with popular cat youtubers and even Jackson Galaxy giving this praise, and after owning it for some time I understand why. The quality of life this gives you as a Cat owner cannot be understated particularly if you are someone who wants to be on top of scooping your litter box daily, but want to streamline the process. Basically if you're lazy yet want to be efficient and clean. The odor control is strong with the hatch and lip design, and the capacity is pretty good before needing to dump. More importantly if you have your litter box in basecamp in like a bedroom this makes your life so much easier. Just put this next to your litter box and when you pass by it you can quickly scoop out undesirables into the genie easily and be on your way. The only cons I can think of are the official refills are kinda pricey, but there's some decent 3rd party options that are priced more competitively. Alternatively you can keep the mount and use regular trash bags although that is a bit more cumbersome. Also the default scoop this comes with is not really good, if you can get a command hook to attach to the side and a litter lifter I recommend that combo. It will serve you well. All-in-all worth it at retail price or below. While this is a bit of hyperbole I really can't imagine living without this or something similar. Maybe it's just my lazy nature yet not wanting to have a potentially stinky and dirty litter box.
