Is this the same as the saphir renovator jar madaille dor?

I believe it's the same for the Renovateur. The polishes however are different between the Saphir line and the Medaille D'Or line.

What’s the difference between this renovator and the medaille de or renovator?

medaille d'or, otherwise known as gold medal if you speak english, is simply an all in one product, so to speak. If you want a proper deep cleaning and conditioning, I would suggest to use Saphir's Reno'Mat of which you can find guides on youtube for how to properly sud and rinse this, follow that up with some of this Saphir Renovateur and then hit it with your favorite beeswax based shoe polish. If you're going with mink oil you need a natural based wax because the mixing of petroleum and natural based oils can cause issues with certain leathers. I only suggest Saphir because they have a good track record and provide naturally based ingredients, which when used properly extend the life of any leather much better than any petroleum based oils or lubricants. Though if you know of another brand or even a local producer that would likely work just as well.

Will this darken the color of leather?

Hi friend, I used this product on the leather upholstery in my vehicle and it did not darken the leather, only gave it a nice sheen. It is a very high quality polish/conditioner. Highly recommend. Best wishes!

How often can or should this be used? is it possible to use it too often? (i’m using it on a midori travelers notebook, if that makes a difference.)

I would use sparingly, maybe twice per year at most. I've noticed a film builds up on my shoe leather if I use this product too often. I've actually switched to Redwing brand leather conditioner and mink oil for my shoes/boots. It seems to work as well without the filmy buildup.

A little expensive, but worth it

This product reincarnates the leather, makes it soft and shiny. It smells great. Just be careful not to apply too much and use your fingers to apply so you could feel it absorb into the leather. The only thing I dislike about this is the price. It's 30% more expensive than its price in US/UK or EU.

J'utilise la marque Saphir depuis bon nombre d'années et ce cirage est particulièrement efficace pour vos souliers en cuir (quelle que soit la couleur - marron/noir/bleu pour moi). Le cuir est nourri et pas besoin d'en utiliser de grande quantité pour avoir un excellent résultat.

If you have good shoes that are worth renovating this cream is the ultimate in quality. Paired with the the shoe polish and you’ve got everything you need. You can even buy a sort of lacquer to apply on top for the parade ground sheen if you are that OCD! Just wish the jars of cream and polish were a bit larger because it sure doesn’t last long if you’re a regular shoe cleaning type of person. I imagine that this would be excellent for leather bags as well.
