DeWalt Accessories DW4904 6" Crimp Wire Whl Brush

I'm a blacksmith and this is the best bench grinder wire wheel for cleaning up metal before and after forging. Like any wire wheel, it will yank the work piece out of your hand if not careful.

Doesn't fit every grinder. Installed this on another brand grinder. And the wires rub the sides of the casing to the point it drags the motor. But was a good value for the money. Nice thickness very durable and functional but on my brand I had to modify the case for it to work.

As always, DeWalt high quality. The width of the mounting hub at the hole is twice the thickness of other brands, which allows the wire brushes to be wider also, I would estimate about 1". appears to be very durable, and I anticipate a long use life. with the 45% markdown, this is an excellent value.

This is a nice wire wheel! Nice construction, very solid, well balanced... Rust or dirt or grime is no match for this wheel! I use it on a Palmgren 82061 6-Inch 1/3HP Bench Grinder with Wire Wheel, Dark Grey/Black . This is not a bad wheel at all, BUT, after using it for only a few times, a lot of wires bent and are touching the wheel covers - and this particular grinder has very wide covers. I trimmed those wires initially, but the I would soon have to trim almost 1/4 of the entire wheel, as all wires on both sides are starting to bend slightly outwards (and I made sure to mark the wheel for direction, so I always install it in the same way to limit the bending). So I just came to realize that this wheel is just a little to wide. And this is the narrower wheel, as Dewalt also sells the DEWALT DW4905 6-Inch Crimped Bench Wire Wheel, 5/8-Inch-1/2-Inch Arbor, Wide Face .014-Inch , which I also had and I can honestly say that there's not a very big difference... As such, I feel forced to either get used to the screeching noise (and the scratched covers), or use it without the cover (which I did not intend to). I have also tried it on other grinders - DEWALT DW756 6-Inch Bench Grinder , Delta 23-198 6-Inch Variable Speed Grinder with Toolless Quick Change , 6" VARIABLE SPEED BENCH GRINDER 1/5HP- CRAFTSMAN , and Porter-cable 6" Variable Speed Bench Grinder with Light and it touches on all of them (on the last three, installing the covers actually prohibits the motor from spinning!) I have also purchased the Forney 72751 6-Inch Fine Narrow Face Crimped Wire Bench Wheel Brush with 1/2-Inch and 5/8-Inch Arbor and I love it. The Dewalt is coarser (0.014" wire size) vs. the finer Forney (0.008" wire size), so they complement each other. But the build quality seems higher on the Forney, so in the future I will probably check this brand before Dewalt... Be safe and wear goggles!

Good quality, but I think it definitely has to be a Dewalt bench grinder. Too thick for mine. WhenPutting the cover on It won't spin.

I use the wire wheel quite often to clean up parts. This wheel is of good quality compared to others I've had. It is balanced well and doesn't vibrate on my machine

This is a good quality branded machine wire brush with a high speed rating (in excess of 4000 rpm). This makes it suitable for use on most buffing machines with a two pole 50Hz induction motor running at a nominal 2880 rpm. There are similar brushes available on Amazon at a much lower price, but the delivery is horrendously long ( six months in one case) and their quality is unknown. I ordered it to replace an identical brush which has given around 8 years service. RHE.
