My daughter wanted a record player for her birthday. We have a lot of albums but not a lot that we knew she would love...at least not at first. We decided to get her an album to go with her new record player. She loves Adele so we decided on her newest album. Love it so much. This is the first album I have bought in 7 years. It takes a lot for me to buy an album and I am not disappointed. I love her and her voice, Adele never lets me down. I just get lost in thoughts when I play any of her songs. 25 is the third studio album by British singer and songwriter Adele. It was released on 20 November 2015, through XL Recordings. Following the release and international success of her second studio album 21, Adele considered quitting the music industry and going out on a positive note. However, she decided to take a hiatus instead and raise her son. During her sabbatical, she suffered from writer's block and rescheduled studio sessions for a new album, fearing she had lost her ability to write songs. In 2013, Adele had a breakthrough and the material that eventually became 25 manifested, with writing and recording continuing through 2015. Titled as a reflection of her life and frame of mind at 25 years old, 25 is a "make-up record". The album's lyrical content features themes of Adele "yearning for her old self, her nostalgia", and "melancholia about the passage of time" according to an interview with Adele by Rolling Stone, as well as themes of motherhood and regret. In contrast to Adele's previous work, the production of 25 incorporated the use of electronic elements and creative rhythmic patterns, with elements of 1980s R&B and organs.

I fell in love with Adele in a bar in the middle of winter in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan when she release her first album (19). I waited for her sophomore album of 21 and then I knew she would be one of the artist that I would follow my whole life. Waiting for the current album was painful but I knew that she would not disappoint. I am a true audiophile and I buy my music on vinyl when available but enjoy the ability of MP3s for the car and beach - and Amazon gives you the "auto rip" when you buy vinyl so it is a win-win situation. Now lets talk about 25! As in the past Adele has a smoky richness to her voice that just takes you to places far away and paints beautiful images in your mind. You want more when the song ends but then the next one begins and takes you on a different journey. She complexity that is so simple (I know you will understand what I mean by that once you hear this album) and begs to be played over and over. With this third album she has earned the right to be a ONE name artist (just Adele). A little about my setup. I play my vinyl on a Audio-Technica AT-LP120-USB Direct-Drive Professional Turntable in Silver . I have it setup with a Bluetooth 4.0 transmitter that is received by my Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker II (Carbon) . Please - no hate mail and I understand I lose some of the greatness of vinyl by converting it to digital but it is a setup so I can move the speaker around the house and not connected to a wired system. All I can say is if you love Adele you will not be disappointed with this purchase. Get it on vinyl or on any format that works best for you - then sit back and enjoy. The CD is as advertised meaning it is new and genuine. It plays fine, but I find the recording to be too hot - the high notes are screechy and sound brittle. On busy passages everything gets muddied and congested as if the signal is overloaded. Perhaps a better transport will help; currently I am using my laptop to play the CD. The rest of the chain (Grace amp/dac and Grado GS1k cans) sounds fine with other music, even with lossy recordings, so I don't think my gear is to blame. As for the music itself, Adele is an astonishingly powerful and emotionally honest singer. Professional music critics have acclaimed this album better than I can and all I will say is that they are right. Highly recommended and fully deserving of the five stars.
