How do you open this thing????? Why would thy make the cap so difficult to open

I understand it is hard to peel the plastic off easily, but it is a good thing when it comes to eye drops. Safety over convenience.

Alaway only lasts 2-3 hrs for me. Looking for a longer lasting alternative. How long does Opcon A last for you?

I live in the grass seed capitol of the world and I am allergic to grass. It lasts about 4 hrs for me. I'm not shy about using it, though, during allergy season.

How does this compare to zatidor? i ask bc eye doctor rec'd zatidor specifically. are they the same formulation? thanks!

Zatidor was a prescription only drop a few years ago. It is the same as Alaway by B&L. These drops are effective at just 2 drops per day. Opcon-A, Vasocon-A and Naphcon-A are all really old type of allergy drops that you need to use up to 4 times a day for maximum effectiveness. You must be careful with the vasoconstrictor aspect because once you stop using them, it is possible to have a "rebound" effect where you're eyes will turn twice as red. This is why we also do not like to recommend drops like Visine. For over-the-counter, Zaditor or Alaway are the best and I agree, adding artificial tears (Systane, Refresh Tears, Theratears, GenTeal, Blink, and several other NAME BRAND drops) can be useful. Often red eyes are a combination of dry eyes and allergies. Optometrist or ophthalmologists also have many prescription drops we can prescribe if the Alaway or Zaditor do no work.Kim Carr-Yeates, O.D.
