Brilliant Colour Wood Dyes. 8 Colour Pack. Water Based.

Excellent. Easy to use, bright colours. Enough to make about 50 guitars. The turquoise especially is very bright(I only have it watered down/blended in, on my guitar to shade it in with the blue.

Bright strong colours and the plywood boxes for granddaughter's treasures look great. Arrived in small slide lock bags and didn't look like there was much. However at one gram per 100ml I could make half a litre of each bag of approx. 5 grams. My scales aren't that accurate but a level small teaspoon seems about right. I've given the boxes 3 coats and there is still lots of the original batch left. As you will see some colours are deeper than others but extra coats (which I'll do later today should solve that. Note that the darker colours are more difficult to dissolve so you need to use hot water. Also the colour is very strong - my fingers are still stained after a couple of days. I bought foam brushes rather than using bristles but even so there were splatters. Haven't tried mixing yet but that's the next project. NB Please note that the 0ne Star review is somewhat unfair and was given because the dye does not dissolve in alcohol. It VERY clearly states in the ad that it is WATER soluble.

The colours are nice but I was disappointed in the packaging they came in, they arrived in little bags and little amounts of pigment in each bag

This is a fantastic product, I am not one for leaving reviews but just have to for this wood dye it's the best I have used 11 out of 10 .

Took a few tries and different experiments, but managed to get a very pleasing effect on some shelves I had knocked up. More powder to water ratio gives a deeper colour, like an ink. You get lots of different colours and the powder goes a loooong way! Worth practicing on some scrap wood first, but definitely gives a colourful coverage and brings out the knotting etc really well. Will buy again for sure.

This is my first ever Amazon review. woudln;t normally post a review but just wanted to let people know that the pigments I was sent do not dissolve in alcohol. Nice colours and I bought this for experimenting before commiting to a project because it was spirit (alcohol based) it's not! Should have been suspicious that it would be soluble in two very different solvents but am a natural optimist. Tried dissolving in 99% etyl-alcohol (same as I use for french polishing) and it's been sat there for a month with most of the powder sat at the bottom of the mixture. Makes the alcohol very faintly tinted but definitely not usable to stain wood. Bit disappointeing considering the price but will use as a waterbased stain for future projects and the turquiose is a very nice colour.

Fantastic colours, but use with care because the powder is extremely potent so if you want a wash or subdued colour, add only small amounts till you get the desired tones. Once you have the tones you can mix to get the desired effects you want in terms of colours. I'm impressed with this and would recommend, with the above proviso.

Wear rubber gloves when using, or you're also gony change colour.
