A low-quality SOP8 clip with a broken short pin made the product unusable.

Once I was able to find a compatible patched BIOS file for my Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga (2nd Gen), using this device was a piece of cake. I was able to successfully remove the BIOS supervisor password lock and have a fully functioning laptop. Thank you!

Great product, amazing price, with it I unbricked my daughter's (middle school student) $500 laptop. I bought this alligator clip and CH341A usb combo to try and resurrect a bricked Asus VivoBook Flip 12 (TP202-NA). The laptop was bricked by a Windows Update optional "driver update" which read ASUSTech Inc. Firmware Update. It turned out this update flashed a bios image, apparently incompatible, as afterwards the device wouldn't turn on at all, no sign of life, except a green led light next to the power button (no backlight on the screen, just black, doesn't load bios or anything, completely bricked). This CH341A programmer and clip worked like a charm with AsProgrammer open source tool for flashing. I successfully flashed the ASUS website provided correct BIOS image (note, the image had to be manipulated with UEFItool first), and the laptop is back to life!!! Thanks to this tool and the clip, no need to unsolder the bios chip and risk it, I flashed it in-place on the motherboard. Again the chip this tool worked with is MXIC MX25U6473FZNI (MACRONIX) CMOS 8MB 1.8v chip.
