Almost too good
I have a 16 year old Turkish Van who is still thriving, but I felt he deserved some better food options. I live out in the country and we have many available sources of good meat so I decided to try making him some homemade food. While many reviews note that some cats don't prefer this product, it nonetheless seemed like a quality product. So I bought the small bag and pressure cooked a whole chicken and mixed it per instructions. First note- You DO get 6 lbs of food, but yes the instructions are ambiguous. You add 4 lbs of meat, 1 cup of mix (Its a cup by volume, not weight) and 3 cups of water. This makes 6 lbs by weight. So I did this. Got exactly 6 lbs, portioned it out and gave it to all 4 of our cats to sample. And they all turned up their noses, as others have reported. And I'm not surprised. The mixture was still somewhat warm which they're not used to. Also you could detect a bit of a 'vitamin' sent from the freshly mixed food. It was also somewhat runny from the water content. With all this in mind, I threw it all in the fridge overnight. And what a difference a day makes. Turns out all my cats were sneaky, conniving scoundrels! And it took this food to bring it out of them. When I repeated the taste test the next day, all 4 cats ate it like it was their first time eating food. No licking or nibbling, but rather whole-mouth gobbles like they were eating meat right off a bone. And while my plan was just to give this to my old cat, separately and segregated, the other cats had other ideas. They hawked me, they profiled me, they hid under and behind things, and resorted to every other manner of deviousness in order to steal any quantity of this food they possibly could get when I wasn't looking. I eventually made a second batch, this time with pork, and not only did they love that too, they got even more sneaky. Until I finally gave up and just started feeding it to all of them. Because its actually dirt cheap to make this way. I 5lb whole chicken that costs maybe $8, gives me close to 8 lbs of food, enough to feed all of them for over a week. A 4lb boneless pork loin cost me $5.50 on sale. Over the long haul this puts us at about $20 for a week + of premium human-grade food. Actually cheaper than giving 4 cats our usual mix of cans with dry food for backup and waaaaaayyyyyyyyy cheaper than buying any of the boutique 'Farmer foods'. And they eat it like its the thing they were put here to do. No issues, no vomiting, no weird behaviors. Rather 4 thriving cats, with super shiny coats and super sharp criminal minds, stalking me 24 hours a day trying to get more. Its almost too good for its own good.

Cat supplement for homemade cat food
I cooked up some poached salmon for the cats adding this product to it according to directions. And as well as the omega-3 oils. Was quite impressed how much my cats really did enjoy eating this product and was very nice not to see them have to throw up all their food I will purchase this product again when necessary, it’s nice to have something that smells and taste good for the cats.as for the value of the money you pay I would say that this product performs others. this product is easy to use just follow the directions. I would say that on a scale of 1 to 10 for performance I give it a 9.5 Only because some cats may be more finicky than others. Was simple to use and I would say the performance it did was very good. My cats did not get ill and I appreciate the health benefits this product offers. I did a lot of research and this was the one I selected.

Complete quality food that kitty likes
I was very happy to find this product. Our kitty was not well this winter and lost weight. I started researching cat nutrition when I found she really loves cooked chicken. Unfortunately, muscle meats, while necessary, do NOT contain all the nutrients that kitties need. U-Stew solves this problem, adding in the missing nutrients. It's simple to make a high-quality cat food out of various muscle meats. I just stew up ground meat, or else chop up some for the pot. After it's done, I use a stick blender to grind it further to the desired consistency. When the mixture is cool, add the supplement, freeze it in ice cube trays, then transfer the cubes to gallon-sized freezer bags. Also, when I give Miss Kitty bits of chicken, turkey, pork, or beef as a treat (which is most evenings), I dip them first into the powder so she gets food which is nutritionally complete. Actually, this is how I introduced her to the supplement---as an additive to her treats. She didn't seem to notice the difference. I currently feed her a mix of home-made and canned cat food, plus her treats, and she is gaining weight nicely.

Not supplementally complete
A species appropriate diet needs to be balanced. If homemade raw is ground with raw bone the nutrition panel/ ingredients ex:calcium content etc, should be different than meat without bone. This trial package is for only 4lbs of meat (6pbs of catfood ) at a hefty price. I bought this because i forgot to reorder my usual Alnutrin, and prime delivered this quick. My usual brand makes more than 30lbs for the same price but one needs a kitchen scale to carefully measure dosage. Anyway this worked as a last resort and my cats ate it contently so it served its purpose. If you have one or two cats it may be cost effective , but i have more. Have been feeding my cats and dog raw since 1990 when most vets scoffed at the idea. But my holistic vet changed my then IBD cats life by starting on raw. I never went back to canned.

Better then wetfood
My best friend make her cats catfood and goes out to buy all supplies separately i showed her this and she was amazed that it had about everything she was using all in one. My cats love this and I feel a bit better that it more to a dite they need to stay healthier. Canned food i feel is questionable. I work retail and what I see at times with wet cat food is just not forgettable...nor is the smell!

I started making my own cat food for 2 senior cats who had allergy and health issues. I wanted an easy way to make sure they were getting all the supplements they needed (taurine, omega's, etc.). This product made it very simple. It is also a great value versus having to go out and buy individual supplements. The cat's allergys improved and their throwing up on a regular basis stopped as well. Thank you for a great product.

This premix is wonderful! I originally had all my pets on kibble, until I joined a highly recommended feline nutrition page, to learn what they need ext. I quickly learned kibble is not very good nor healthy and they aren't getting everything they need and getting things they don't need. When I started looking into feeding raw I was very excited but very overwhelmed! I found on the nutritional page what premixes they recommend. Better know is on there, at the bottom but it made the cut and it is so easy to get in Canada. Which is a bonus! So I went for it! All I got to do is buy ground meat mix water and premix and boom foods ready && fresh! My siamese 3 yr old took to it immediately and seems to really really enjoy it. My 13week old mainecoon will eat it but never finishes it, I don't think she's convinced yet! We just ordered the beef premix to see if she'll like it better!! I for sure love it! Makes feeding raw a breeze!!! 4 stars because my MC is hesitant!

I initially bought this for my rescue cat who was having bladder issues, her coat was dull and almost greasy and she was underweight even though she had a decent appetite, low energy and peeing everywhere. Omg she took to this like a duck in water. After a round of antibiotics and changing her diet to raw, she’s packed on the weight, her coat is soft and glossy, her energy is out of this world and she RUNS to her food now instead of a slow stroll. Now my other cat whom I’ve had since a kitten is slightly on the more fussy side.. I’ve tried mixing it with her canned food and that kinda works she’ll eat a little and leave it then fatty (new name for rescue cat) will come and polish it off. I’ve watered it down extra because she is more of a licky cat, you know one of those who will just lick her food to death, but still only eats a little. BUT *chefs kiss* I figured it out. You know those lickable cat treats that I’m pretty sure are crack for cats? Well mix in half of one of those bad boys.. she ate the whole lot. Overall I’m very happy with this pre mix. Cost wise pretty much balances out with the cost of canned food. I’ve used minced turkey so far with the chicken pre mix. I’ve ordered the larger bag of the beef pre mix because they don’t have the large bag of the chicken on Amazon so we will see how that goes. Something tells me it won’t be an issue.

So, the product is great. My cats love this one the chicken flavour. For some reason they do not like the beef one. However, the reason I give it a 3 star, is caused it is hardly ever available. So if your cat gets use to it and likes it, it’s really hard to get it again. It’s been nearly 3 months and I can’t get the chicken flavour. Which is sad cause one of my cats won’t eat anything else now, till he’s absolutely famished.

I'm a new cat owner and after research I wanted to try her on a raw diet. It seemed really complicated and I was worried about the initial investment as well. This product makes it dead simple all I have to do is buy some extra meat when I grocery shop, chop it up and we're good to go. We bought some silicon ice cube trays (the bigger ones) and it works perfectly to feed her one of them a day, just have to remember to defrost them! Olive loves this food, we feed her mostly chicken thighs with some skin, she not only devours it entirely she licks her plate clean every time! I'd like to try her on a proper full raw diet sometime, but this is an amazing option if you don't have alot of time but want your cat to have a raw diet, I'll always make sure to have some on hand.
