A great tool at a great price
I love this tool,it saves so much time, no more paring down cable with my knife or trying to strip off an outer sheathing without damaging the cable inside it, this tool does it all, and does it perfectly it is accurate when it cuts and does it in one action brilliant. If your doing electrical work like wiring a loft or garage you need this tool I recommend it to all DIY people.

They’re good enough but could be better
These are ok, about the same as my Stanley ones. I find they work well but sometimes I can’t get them to grip the wire sheath properly, even after adjusting the jaws. My Stanley ones do the same. That said they do give a nice clean cut and they do speed up wire stripping.

Good tool
Can be a bit tricky to get the wire in the right spot and right handed tools bug me a bit, but to me yes it is definitely worth the tenner or whatever it was that I paid for this

Met a need but cheaply made and stick easily
Met a need but frankly will pay more for a decent set of strippers in future. I have always been a knife and pliers type of guy when doing electrical work. However on a recent project I didn't have a lot of spare cable to play with and needed to get in tight to a ceiling to strip cable and wire. The tool tends to get the first cut good but then sticks or jams on subsequent strips and I seems to need to exercise the tool closed/open listening for a click before it will work again. However in most cases the actual cuts both to outer insulation on twin and earth cable, and stripping individual conductors were fine. But the time wasted resetting it each time reduced its value to me. I suspect it will lose it's effectiveness over time as it's fairly cheaply made and will probably get a decent set at that time.

Not bad - average about 3.5 stars but really handy
Struggles on thick 2.5 cable a bit at times but anything smaller it works well on. It could be a bit sturdier but it is a really handy but if kit especially if you snip the wires instead of removing the sheath habitually.. Good grip. Comfortablecto use. It really speeds up the process. No seller issues

Makes stripping wires a doddle.
Makes my work easier, should have bought one years ago, excellent quality.

I bought this Stripper for basic electrical projects at home. It strips insulation fast and cleanly. The self-adjusting jaws grip insulation well and pull it off clean on common wire sizes. The handles feel comfortable in the hand and I enjoy the satisfying click on the wire has been stripped. The built-in cutter handles copper and aluminum wire without issue. This is a dependable wire stripper for DIY and light shop work and it offers solid value for the price.

I bought this tool because by and large Amazon Basics has been reliable, good quality, and competitively priced for all its products, in my experience, thus far. This wire-stripper was no exception. The build quality is good, the tool does exactly as advertised, strips wire easily, no headache, no calibration, no need to even double check. I've used it to strip extremely small wires (for circuit boards), as well as jack cables for guitars, and it does everything I've tried equally well so far. I've noticed that some people bought the product expecting it to strip extremely large / thick gauge wires (nothing of consumer level for sure), and were therefore disappointed to learn that it doesn't do that job too well, but considering their expectations were set far too high, and that they would require specialty tools for those gauges of wire, they can't really blame the product. Like I said, I've been splitting quarter inch jack cables regularly for the last month with no difficulty at all, and I can't anticipate any issues in the future either. The only con (in my opinion) is the wire cutter element (just above the crimping section) could have been a little sharper, and it does almost press the sheath every time it makes cuts, but once again, that's a super minor complaint, and honestly one that is easily solved by a little sharpening. Bottom line is that I would (and already have) recommended this to most of the people I know.

I’ve been working on home wiring projects for a while now, and this Amazon Basics Self-Adjusting Wire Stripper quickly became my favorite tool. The first thing I noticed was how solid it feels in my hand — the build quality is impressive for the price, with sturdy metal jaws and comfortable, grippy handles that don’t hurt my hands during longer sessions. The self-adjusting feature is a game-changer. I no longer have to guess or manually adjust for different wire gauges — it automatically adjusts to strip perfectly every time, whether I’m working on thin 22-gauge wires or thicker 12-gauge cables. This has saved me a lot of time and frustration. It also has a built-in crimper that works well for smaller terminals, so I can handle multiple tasks without switching tools. The adjustable stopper lets me control the stripped length, which is handy for consistency across projects. Overall, this wire stripper is a great mix of functionality, comfort, and durability. Whether you’re a DIYer or a pro, it’s a solid addition to your toolkit that won’t let you down
