Philips SatinShave Prestige Women's Electric Shaver, Cordless Hair Removal with Trimmer, BRL170/50

I'm confused by the negative reviews because this electric razor has given me the same results as my razor blade. I have thick dark hair against light skin, so I can clearly see and feel the results. I have used this for my legs and underarms, and tried the bikini trimmer with great results. Cleaning is easy but it needs to be done under running water because the hair tends to stick to the plastic. I pull everything apart and use the little brush that came with the package to brush away the hairs and this does a pretty decent job. I'm the type of person that would avoid shaving as long as possible because I would rather not put a sharp blade against my skin and it's a hassle to prepare everything I need to shave. To use a razor blade, first I need to be near a source of water in order to rinse the blade and I also need soap. Then after shaving, I have to rinse off the hair and soap in the shower. I don't like to shave under the shower either because it can be hard to see the progress with water everywhere (plus it was a waste of water). This electric razor has really eliminated the need for all of that because I can use it dry. In fact, I’ve tried it under water and it didn’t work very well for me because the water was causing too much friction, even with soap. Sure, I do have to run over the same areas multiple times, but it was really not a big deal because I can run the electric shaver as fast as I like and get the job done in no time. I was really impressed how smooth my underarms felt compared to the results I got with a razor blade. When I was using the razor blade, I still had to shave my legs at least twice to make sure I got everything and the underarm was super tricky especially when I was trying to shave my right armpit with my left hand as a right-handed person. It was impossible to reach certain areas, but I couldn’t press the razor blade too hard or run over the same area too many time or risk razor burn. The bikini trimmer was pleasant to use. For the most part, I was moving the blade in the direction the hair was growing and didn’t experience any pulling, but if you experience pulling with this one, I imagine it would happen with any hair trimmer because it just looks like a standard hair trimmer to me. With the trimmer comb, it felt safer to use and I could finish trimming the bikini area very quickly. I found that the efficiency cap attachment didn’t do much for me and just got in the way of getting a close shave under my arms so I don’t use it. I just pull my skin taunt when I’m shaving under my arms. I’m extremely satisfied with the Philips electric shaver. It’s a better alternative to the manual razor and I would never go back to using razor blades.

This shaver came with a carry bag and 5 attachments. The large purple attachment is the razor cover which protects the foil head from damage. It also has a bikini trimmer and a smaller purple attachment if if you don't want to trim your bikini area bare. There is another white attachment meant to raise the hair for better trimming. It also comes with a charger cord. This unit does not come with a charging/storage base. The shaver is stored in the bag when not in use. The shaver has power right out of the box which was nice but I chose to fully charge it before first time use. It took about an hour which was fine because I had plenty to do while I waited. Since full charge I've used it 3 times and haven't had to charge it yet. The first time used was for the longest duration as I had to trim the jungle that grew in my bikini area. For this area I attached the small purple piece because I didn't want to be bald. It worked great. Didn't pull my hair whatsoever. It was easy to use and felt comfortable in my hands. Very manuverable considering the area I was trimming. I have also used this shaver on my legs and underarms and it has worked perfectly each time. My skin has felt very smooth when the job was complete. I've used it both wet and dry and it works beautifully in each circumstance. I haven't had any issues. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever. It is pure perfection!

overall this product is very nice and smooth, the fact that it is designed to use on wet & dry skin has it's advantages, but if your skin is not stretched while using it you will have some pulls and it will leave a mark on your skin so be sure while using it, always pull the skin tight. Another disadvantage is the skin is not exactly smooth after one time, so you need to go over the same area twice or three times, which causes irritation to the sensitive skin, but once you get used to it, it gets better. there is no perfect shaver but this one seems to do the job with a little commitment.

I was hoping for a better product... I have never used a foil shaver, and I wanted to use it on legs and arms as well as trimmer for other areas... and I thought this would be perfect... it is in some ways the perfect solution, except the foils shaver sucks! The trimmer is great, the size is great, its easy to clean, compact, and well charged. It comes with a little carry bag and everything its supposed to, it just wont shave... many passes over and eventually skin burn. too bad. But I am keeping it for the trimmer... feature. Too lazy to send it back honestly... might as well use it!

A bit of background: I have highly sensitive skin that seems prone to painful irritation and cuts, no matter what combination of razor/shaving cream/lotions/etc I try. I was hesitant to try an electric shaver after an underwhelming experience years ago. But after a particularly gruesome shower scene led me to chuck all my traditional razors, teary-eyed, I decided to give this product a try. I’ve only used this shaver dry, and only on legs and bikini area. So far, I’m entirely pleased. No irritation to speak of. And, bonus, the battery seems to last well: I fully charged this product upon receiving it and have gotten several complete shaves so far without having to recharge. Of course no method is perfect, and there are a few “tradeoffs.” I believe most of these are common to all electric shavers, and not unique to this product: - Closeness of shave: Particularly on knees and ankles, it is hard to get close. It does better on flatter areas, and I can see why other reviewers would say it’s almost as close as traditional shaving. Still, you might find yourself going over an area from a few different angles. I plan to try a hair minimizing lotion in conjunction with this product to help hide any left-behind hairs. - Noise/vibration: About as expected, I wouldn’t say it is loud at all, but it can get a bit irritating to hold in your hand while shaving. - Mess: Especially if you use it dry and your bathroom has an automatic fan, prepare to watch your newly-shaved stubble fly about. I’ve found myself keeping a dustpan handy. If you are happy with traditional shaving, you might wonder why anyone would settle for these “tradeoffs.” But if you are like me and would be happy to never see another disposable razor again in your life, these seem like a small price to pay. Give this product a try. Finally, since it is a bit confusing, these are the included attachments: - The large purple one is a travel/storage cover, it covers the foils and power button. - The bikini trimmer head was part of why I chose this model over the cheaper version of the “SatinShave” product. It’s ok. Not bad enough that I will stop using it. But you have to go over an area multiple times to really catch everything, which is not great for its intended purpose. The small purple comb is a guide for this trimmer. - The larger white circle snaps over the foil head and supposedly makes your hair stand up before shaving. I haven’t tried this one, seems a bit scary. I use a dry loofah before shaving for this purpose. - There is also a small brush to clean out behind the foils after use. I am hopeful that this product will last a long time with proper care.

I love using this product. Super easy to use and it's effective. Is it going to make you, after bath, exfoliated, new razor, followed by coconut oil soft? No way but it's a godsend for those days where you wake up and realize that you're too hairy for those shorts you want to wear. 10 min and arms and legs are trimmed down to like 1/32 of an inch and no more visible hair. Follow up with a good moisturizer and you'll get 85% of that new razor softness. It has two blades, a trimmer, and the foils. The foils are only going to cut hairs that have been trimmed. So be sure to hold it at the right angle, follow the growth pattern of your hairs and the trimmer will get the long hairs first followed by the foils. You may need 2-3 passes but it's way quicker than doing the whole shibang in the shower. Also, because you're not shaving all the way down to the skin, no razor burns, knicks, and wayyyyyy fewer ingrown hairs. Maybe 1-2 in my problem areas. I have THICK hair so this helps a lot.

I am compelled to write a review about the Norelco Philips SatinShave Prestige. And explain why I have given this product a combined rating of 5-stars for both product (Norelco) and product delivery (Amazon). Skeptical at first and never thought I would ever get an electric shaver but I gotta say it's price Prime Day was what got me to grab this particular model. PROs: AESTHETICS - it was ready to go right out of the box & undamaged in packaging (as far as I know, when I charged it it did not explode so 5 stars there on the delivery Amazon. Thank u!) - aesthetically beautiful (soft lavender hue) - well constructed - easy to hold handle - easy pop-off head - easy to clean head - box came as new (packaged well no dents) - charged quick! At least within an (approx) hour (i thought it would take 24hours as stated in the description) also since it was working right out of the box, i assume they package them with some charge left on it. Props, Norelco! - accessories included (will update when I actually get the time to use them) - easy to connect power cord. Which pretty much looks similar to most Norelco electric shaver products USAGE - IT WORKS, YOU GUYS! granted, I haven't used it on my husband's coarse hairy legs but i did a test strip on my "winter" leg hair and it impressed me! My skin felt smooth! I had to go at it a couple times to rid of the prickly feeling on my leg. And also get a feel for how close to actually press it up against my skin. I'm gonna need Norelco to do a demo right quick. - thoroughly impressed Don't expect to be hair-free immediately. It doesn't say that on the product description. The closest shave? Yes. But it does take some precision to get that close shave and frankly that isn't Norelco's error. Cos face it, everyone's hair grows in different directions. Hope this helps!

My husband purchased this for me:) Thoughtful as many times I wouldn't wear something because I forgot to shave. This makes shaving without a shower possible, which can be handy sometimes. Overall, nice design, easy to hold, can be used in the shower or not, and it's cordless. The only drawback, with any chargeable or electric shaver, is you will never get as close or as smooth a shave as you will with a razor. That being said, I'm thankful my husband purchased this for me. It will make it easier on those days when I didn't shave the day before, but don't need or want to jump in the shower for a close wet razor shave. However, I will never give up my traditional razor, but now I have another option. I know it will come in handy. I would recommend this product.
