I have bought probably a dozen of these over the years for my business. When they work, they work perfectly! However, we have received a few that the spinning dial doesn't work correctly. Some have not spun all the way around. We also had one that didn't spin to the correct position to allow the toilet to flush adequately. Kohler has been great with replacing defective products. So I still recommend.

I had an older unit fail do to a mistake while installing fresh batteries. I damaged the gear drive. Ordered a "Amazon Used" item. Likely a return since it appeared not to have been installed but the package was missing many items and was actually a different model/controler. OK for my needs as I simply salvaged parts off the old since all that was wrong with mine was a damaged gear drive.. If this is a first time buy, be sure to buy new. A bit tricky to set up at first. Especially if your manual pull is in the tank lid rather than traditional side of tank. A little trial and error and you'll get it to work flawlessly. Keep the batteries out until you are done with initial setup. Watch when you are installing the battery pack. Be sure the rubber gasket is correctly in place for the lid to seal and that you don't pinch the internal wire lead when closing the battery compartment. A good seal is important or you will get enough condensate from the toilet tank water. The condensate will kill the electronics. If it happens remove and try the rice trick or leave in fresh open air a few days or even a week. You may get luck and find it will work again. Don't leave items on the tank lid. I find I get Phantom flushes if there is something left on the tank lid. Like many of the newer "smart home" type electronics, I find it is not a install and forget item. I do have to tinker with it a bit from time to time. For my needs worth the price and minor effort needed.

I had originally written a great review of this new Koehler flushless kit... Unfortunately it appears to have been premature. It looks like they fixed the issue with the endless loop flushing cycle but these units have additional new problems... #1: batteries... They really seem to eat through them in just a month or two. I’m not 100% sure that the batteries are the issue but the sensor range gets shorter and shorter and eventually it stops flushing after a relatively short period of time. Replacing the batteries seems to fix the problem but they don’t give you the multi-tone alert like the old ones to let you know there is a battery problem. At least I thought it did until I tried that method in our brand new 2 week old unit and it didn’t immediately fix it. Leaving the batteries out for about 5 minutes and then reassembling the unit seemed to fix it but that may actually be worse if this new unit needs to be unplugged and reset every 2 weeks... 🤦♂️ #2: the new sensor looks like a toilet flush handle... So what do your guests do? They try to push on it to flush the toilet. Fortunately Koehler knew this was a stupid idea so they made it so that the sensor doesn’t break when they do this, it just pops out of its housing and hangs by the wire. Literally every single person that has used our toilet when they come over ends up breaking it and you have to go in and slide the sensor unit back into the housing which over time becomes more and more loose until the double sided tape that they use to stick it to your toilet falls off and then you have your $80 sensor hanging off the side of your toilet by it’s wire... The long and the short of all of this is that Koehler is using its customer base as its product testing department. We have had 3 of these toilets for around 5 years now and not a single year has gone by that we haven’t had to replace the flush unit in 2 or 3 of them. If you have to change batteries now every month or 2 you are adding up to annual maintenance costs of around $100/toilet to end up with a toilet that flushes MOST of the time with periods of time when it won’t flush at all until your replacement parts arrive. We actually keep a spare sensor/flush unit on hand so we eliminate the 1 week downtime waiting for parts now... Annual maintenance costs, lack of reliability... These units are absolutely NOT what you want to have in your toilets... Unfortunately all of our toilets came with these units pre-installed so there is nowhere I can just re-install a handle and get rid of this nonsense... Or struggle continues until Koehler gives up on this concept and we eventually have to replace the entire toilets. We could not be more disappointed in the Koehler brand for bringing this early beta test concept to market at a premium price point...
