Shoot with a purpose.
When my adult daughter saw me with this book she said, "you shoot great, what do you need that book for?" Well the answer is, now I shoot with a purpose and don't feel like I'm just burning through ammo. You know, turning money into noise. Now when I go to the range, I feel like I'm accomplishing something. I always have fun, but now I'm training and not just shooting. Well worth the price of a 100 rounds of ammo.I wasn't sure if I should purchase this book or Ben's Dry Fire book. Now I know I will purchase both.

My favorite Stoeger (and Park) book so far
This book is basically everything you need all in one place. Ben’s other books (as well as other instructors) are good as well, but this one is like the Bible of practical shooting. Just starting out? It covers you. Going for GM? It covers that too. It’s all laid out in levels so you can skip to “your level” if you’d like (I recommend reading it all to discover anything you might be missing)Of course it’s just a book, so it’s not going to get your goals for you, BUT it will give you the tools and tips to get there.

Gives you direction, tools, and benchmarks to help you become a better shooter
Practical Shooting Training provides the student of practical shooting with a path for improvement, whether that student comes to the book with no experience or at a high level in the sport.Ben and Joel have included a variety of drills; the time standards change as the shooter gains skill, as does the shooter's focus in the drill. Marksmanship fundamentals are the key at every level. As the shooter improves, additional elements (e.g., movement) are included; however, marksmanship fundamentals at speed are always a necessity.

Made it to B Class
My classification in Production changed from C-Class to B-Class this week!. Purchased this book 18 months ago and worked the dry fire drills x4 per week with live fire every other week over that period of time. It works if you work. Probably used about 3,000 to 4,000 rds of ammo over that time.

great book if your looking to get into USPSA or similar type of pistol shooting.
Ben does a really good job of breaking down the components and getting you thinking about what and how your doing it as well as drills to practice the skills.

Misleading description
This is clearly not a book for beginners, but a manual for experienced shooters who want to develop a training routine for marksmanship competitions. Since the website didn’t show any actual contents from the book, it was not possible to see examples of what to expect between the covers. Particularity alarming to me was why the authors chose not to include any pictures/illustrations of correct body postures or hand positions when firing, despite stating in the intro, “your grip largely determines your shooting accuracy.”. Lots of good info here, but sorry the authors didn’t take more seriously the advice that, “A picture can be worth a thousand words.” in their tutorial approach.. Certainly thousands of words in this lengthy manual.
