first professional hood owned. 2 week update included
so far i got this and no complaints , except for i received this no spare outer and inner-lenses which was weird, i bought dozens of hoods and this is my first time not getting a few. oh well, the quality of this hood tops this issue. the controls with the digital screen setting the shade, sensitivity, and delay and grind/weld mode was so satisfying. has a nice sturdy feel, a little bit on the heavy side but not bad. headgear is great, pretty comfortable. smooth ratchet adjuster and a decent size viewing area and a place to hold a cheater lens. overall i give this a 8/10. will add edit after some time welding. So update. I noticed a dark line/crack in the filter I heard that that is unsafe to use at this point. So I sent it back. Decided not to get a different cause it’s not worth it for me, it’s just to heavy for my neck and I noticed it doesn’t cover my face and ears as well as others like my old Lincoln. Besides the weight and crack and lack of face coverage my previous review stands solid. If it didn’t have the crack I would still use it as my go to good. Thanks Jackson.

The auto dark feature is great.
I am new to the auto darkening welding helmet. I have not welded in many years. Wanted to get a little 110v welder for some home projects. I wanted a welding helmet that I could trust. After spending hours watching reviews and reading comments. I decide to give the Jackson safety helmet a try. I have spent a few hours using this helmet. It is amazing! The auto shutoff feature is my favorite feature on this helmet. If it doesn't detect light for some period of time it automatically goes into grind mode saving the batteries. The viewing window is huge! I don't know why they make a bigger viewing window. I looked at some of the panoramic helmets. But after getting this one, I glad I didn't. This helmet is perfect. Not to mention that it looks good also. If you have any question about this welding helmet, do yourself and your eyes a favor and spend the little extra and get this one. You will not be disappointed.

Total let-down.
First off, I'm not Katrina, I'm her son Zack. Just used her account for prime. When I first unboxed this helmet, my heart sunk. My mom was standing there with me, because she wanted to see what I'd spent my HS graduation money on. As I said, my heart sunk. It was that feeling you get during Christmas when you ask for something, and everyone gets you socks... That's what it felt like. My very first impression wasn't: "wow, that's a nice hood", it was "this is socks on Christmas". Even though I bought it it my own money... sorta, I still didn't want my mom to not be happy, so I put on a smile and told her about all the great features it "had"(either didn't have them period or weren't what Jackson and everyone in the comment section said they would be). I'm really on the fence with this helmet. The sensors and locking headgear are exceptional, but the helmet body itself is extremely flimsy, as seen in the picture. It took no strength whatsoever to flex the shell like that. If you look closely, my fingers aren't white, flexed, etc. When I pulled it out of the box, the plastic bent around in my hand so much I figured the box must've been in the sunlight for a couple hours. To give you an example, evry time I flip the hood down, I can feel the soft placid shell bounce, kinda like gelatin, or my stomach when I do jumping jacks lol. My first helmet, a cheapo $60 from tractor supply was way more sturdy than this. I also hate the headgear. The locking option is awesome, but you have to pull it up super high for it too lock, which always repositions the helmet on my head and pulls my hair (even though i keep my hair buzzed down pretty short) and if you aren't wearing a welding cap, the side knobs pinch and scratch the hell outta my ears.I haven't done any stick welding with it, because I'm going to send it back and don't want any holes from burn-thrus, which I'm sure would be the case the first time I have to any out of position welding. But I'd imagine the spark protection would suck, the helmet is very narrow, and your ears and neck would get eaten up like no tomorrow. Also, the deciding factor for me buying this helmet was Jackson's reputation for its amazing headgear. But the headgear sucks! The forehead strap is super thin (see photo). I'd imagine it would wear through after less than a week of full time use. The head strap (that looks like a snap back hat) that determines how high or low the helmet sits doesn't even snap into place after you set the 2 little plastic nubs they just fall out of the holes as soon as you take your helmet off (if you look closely, you can see what I'm talking about. Look how the strap is in its loosest setting.) The helmet is also very small and compact, which might be what you want if you exclusively tig weld in tight spaces, but other than that, this helmet excels at nothing, period. Don't be fooled by this helmet's price tag. I seriously wouldn't buy this for anything other than a first welding helmet, or maybe seeing if I liked auto darkening. But even then, I would pay more than 50 to 60 dollars.
