Solid steel construction, works great.
Nice little tool. As others have mentioned, it's solidly made out of steel. I would add one caveat: the mechanism for tightening the drill chuck is a bit non-standard. Normally there's a large knurled outer piece that you twist and then a smaller, but still large diameter piece that you grip to hold the shaft still. The knurled part is standard, as you see in the photos, but that second piece is missing. Instead, the second piece is simply the hex shaft itself. My first thought was, "Well, that's different!" My second thought was, "Seems to work great, so fine by me." It does mean, though, that if you're not careful, you could probably unscrew that shaft right out of the chuck. I decided against that experiment since I'm not sure how easy that would be to put back together. Overall, great value for the money, very happy with it.

Great tool addition
Perfect addition for hand drill or bench press when the chuck can’t grab micro drill bits. Works great would definitely buy again

Works OK; smaller bits often come loose after a short time.
Fine for for the price. I've found I have to re-tighten the chuck once or twice during each use, especially with smaller bits.

Keyless Quick-Change 1/4" Hex Shank Mini Drill Chuck
Always knew an adapter like this would be a great idea for my impact driver but never thought it would become one of my most used adapters. I use this all the time with standard round shank HSS drill bits for drilling holes in wood or metal and even in drywall or plaster for plastic anchors. I also use it to make pilot holes through wood framing using long insulation hanger rods. This chuck adapter has been a game changer allowing me to use my impact driver for drilling without also carrying around 1/4-inch hex shank drill bits. I no longer have to make another trip to the truck to get the regular cordless drill just to do lighter drilling work.

Fairly poor quality. Failed to hold drills well.
Did not hold drills well, fell apart when opening fully, poor design. Cheap......

Get a couple of these and spin your chuck less
Works great in my DCD985. When you open it wide the interior springs look like they could be easily damaged if you weren't very well aligned with your bit installation, but those should be few and far apart with how affordable these are. They held a 3/16 bit comfortably through wood, even in a quick-change shank socket. The bit didn't slip at all in use.

Actual steel!
These LaBear chucks are actual steel. After having purchased some others that turned out to be aluminum and also wobbled the bit in my press, I tried out LaBear (two on the left). Drill bit wobble immediately went away, and I’m able to sufficiently tighten it without stripping the casing. All the chucks were around the same price, which surprises me now that I’ve held both, and can instantly feel the heavier and more durable build of the LaBear adapters. The teeth of the LaBear chuck are also much better (still pictured on the left) coming to an even close point without too much chamfering creating a large gap making it hard to clamp those small drill bits. These definitely feel like the premium grade I was hoping to get, just still surprised by the price!

It wobbles.
It is not perpendicular it wobbles and that's a big deal to me. I need straight holes and not broken bits.

Very odd design and very difficult to use. It works but I do not recommend it.
