I've been using this bulb for 6+ months now for room/task lighting. For me it noticeably helps wakefulness in mornings and throughout the day. Originally, I was using it along with another full spectrum bulb 8ft away from where I usually am in the room, I thought I noticed that it helped a little to wake up in the morning but wasn't sure. Then on somewhat of a whim, I decided to move it about 2ft away from me by my desk at home. At about the same time, independent of the bulb being closer, I started sleeping more. Once I rested up and overall got the exhaustion under control, I became certain that the bulb helps wakefulness and mood. I also got a light sunburn after having it on for 8-10hrs next to me... it took me longer than it should have to realize why, I was blaming the first occurrence on the medical bulb over me (I was assuming it was a xenon bulb) for a procedure that coincided with when I got burned LOL. I would estimate that it helps me with waking up and morning alertness by about ~20-30%. Once I get my circadian rhythm adjusted (more consistent to-bed time with 3mg 2-stage release melatonin 2hrs before bed to help that along) I may not notice the difference as much but it does help me for sure. I have tried a few full-spectrum bulbs, including an 0tt-lite, and this has been significantly better for mood, alertness and wakefulness. The color temperature is not like a full spectrum bulb. It has a hue not unlike a light-tint version of the blue+red LED grow lights you see around, but it is a light-moderate tint and not at all extreme like the LED grow lights. The perceptual Illumination that it provides per watt is less than you may expect for a CFL with what I would estimate off-the-cuff as 2/3 the illumination of a comparable wattage 5000K CFL bulb, but then, you probably don't want to be using this for much more than 4hrs at a time @2ft away if you are pale like me, but there is little to no UVC here so you could experiment and find what works for you. I mean hey, I have color in my face again, during the winter, so I'm happy about that too. I expect to continue to use it for waking and during the early evening as well as during the day on weekends (switching lights at 2hrs before bed) as it seems to help with alertness by varying degrees 10-30%(?) depending on other factors like nutrition and how much sleep I've had. For sure, turn it off 2hrs before you need to start sleeping or it will keep you up later than you probably want. I like this bulb a lot. I like it so much that I ordered a similar UVB T5 bulb for my desk at work.
