Product Description Big enough for Led Zeppelin's towering sound, this 10-CD box set collects all nine of the legendary band's original studio albums released from 1969 to 1982. Included are: Led Zeppelin I (1969), Led Zeppelin II (1969), Led Zeppelin III (1970), IV (1971), Houses of the Holy (1973), Physical Graffitti (1975) (2CD), Presence (1976), In Through the Out Door (1979), and Coda (1982). A true stairway to heaven for Zep fans, this massive box originally released in 1993 features each classic title with its original album artwork. desertcart.com As Basil Bunting wrote about Ezra Pound's Cantos, "There are the Alps... you will have to go a long way round/if you want to avoid them." Led Zeppelin's work is the central fact of 1970s rock & roll; in its loving homage to and shameless piracy from the blues, its glorious and wretched excess, its transformation of hippie and folk-rock graces into a foundation-shaking kaboom, and its offhanded myth-making, the band turned everything caught in its wake into a reaction to it--or against it. The three non-album tracks the box includes are grace notes rather than lost jewels, but the point of the set is to be a Rosetta stone of album rock, the stairway to a gaudy paradise that they constructed. --Douglas Wolk Review: My Holy Grail of Rock and Roll - This is the ULTIMATE, supreme collection of the best of the best - COMPLETE with great photos, outstanding musical sound clarity, and if you LOVE Led Zeppelin as I do, this is a MUST BUY, MUST OWN collection. After over three decades, to have just "some" of the CD's is NOT enough. To have ALL of the CD's is like having the Holy Grail delivered to your door. Now, I have to download the CD's into my computer so I can upload into the i-pod I don't yet own. If anything was going to get me to buy an i-pod, it's the complete studio recordings of LED ZELLEPIN. They inspire me more than any other group in the history of rock and roll. My view on this is that it's much MORE than just owning a bunch of CD's - it's owning ROCK AND ROLL HISTORY. There's a saying "money doesn't buy happiness" - in THIS case, it sure does. Is it worth the money? Oh Yeah! Whole Lotta Love, Barb Led Zeppelin MUST OWN DVD and Upcoming Release 11-13-2007 Mothership [UPDATE About Packaging] I honestly don't know WHAT people are talking about with neg reviews because of the packaging of this set. It's boxed PERFECTLY, in a nice, square box, all of the CD's are carefully protected - there's an awesome hard cover book sharing "how" Led Zeppelin came to be, and a lot of personal and wonderful details that any fan would love. I should have bought this set a long time ago - it's the best MUSIC PACKAGE I've ever owned. Review: Get this one... - ...not the two other box sets. Why? LZ was adamant about people buying their full albums. This full-album approach is evidenced by the fact that they never released a single in the UK. Moreover, LZ was born and popularized during the days of vinyl records, and they wrote their music to accommodate this format. Knowing these things, it is important to listen to each album, at least the first few times through, in the order in which it was intended. The 1990 box set and its 1993 supplement, although handsome and concise (you get all 9 studio albums, plus a few extra b-sides, in only 6 discs), breaks all the songs up in a loose diachronic order. With this set, you have the opportunity to travel through each disc as it was intended to be heard. Moreover, you are not at the mercy of what the record company or the band might think is worthy to appear on one box set or another (I constantly find myself in disagreement over what songs are chosen for "greatest hits" compilations), which we had to endure before the second little box set came out in 1993. (I was always a little miffed that the song "That's the Way" didn't make it onto the first box set). The re-master quality is great, but there are songs which the re-mastering process couldn't repair, possibly because the master tape was warped or unmanageable (cf. the opening cymbal crash on "Dancing Days"). At times it sounds like the dynamic range of the songs was expanded without any cleanup of tape hiss. They are noticeably louder than previous CD releases prior to the re-mastering process, but there is no need to worry about dynamic range compression - as far as I can tell, there is no clipping or compression throughout the CDs. Other songs, such as "Stairway" and "Kashmir" sound a lot cleaner and clearer, as if recorded just yesterday, but it is the quieter moments where the re-mastering stands out ("Rain Song," "No Quarter," "Stairway," etc.). If you're looking to experience LZ the way they intended, album for album, pick up this set. The double box set released in the early 1990s doesn't do the albums or the band justice.

Glorious that just doesn't cut it, Speechless is more like it.
These guys are the masters, the reigning kings of Hard Rock. Every gem is in this box set. Granduer, awesomeness and epic could be a couple of words to describe this box set, all I've got to say is buy it for your self, it will change your life. There was a time when I lost my job and I had to sell most of my record collection to make ends meet. Out of my whole collection I wouldn't give this up. This set got me through that peroid and also got me through other tough peroids in my life. This box set chronciles the bands starting, up to its monarch like ascent and then to its fall when Bonzo died. All the albums are here in a 10 Box Set. Dazed and Confused, Ramble On, Misty Mountain Hop, Black Dog, Rock n'Roll, Stairway To Heavan, Achille's Last Stand, Candy Shop Rock, Kashmir, and Ozone Baby all those juicy bits are here a song for each mood. Led Zep's influences are easily seen here, garage rock, psychedelia, progressive, Rockabilly, country and of course the greatest influence the Blues. I often wonder if there is in any truth in the myth the band sold their souls to the Dark One because such mind numbing talent is almost beyond the pale of reality. I'm telling you get this set no music lover will be disapponited. Absolutely Awesome. Has 4 bonus tracks never released "Baby Come On Home", "Travelling Riverside Blues", "White Summer/Black Mountain Side", and "Hey Hey What Can I Do?" all songs in the blues vein and take their place besides the other greats. There is also a book of liner notes written by Cameron Crowe that have bits of interviews with the band and info on some of the songs. All in all this is a must have for any Zep head or person who apperciates good music.

with the brand new re-releases of the 2014/2015 CD's, the original albums plus a companion CD (or in the case of Coda, 2 extra CD's) you have a wealth of choices to want and/or buy the Led Zeppelin legacy: the individual albums solely, the 4 CD box set and/or the additional 2 CD box set (which run the songs in different order and not always chronological, though), this fine 10CD box set, the 12 CD set Definitive Collection (which houses the double live album The Song Remains the Same) and as I started this review the new albums again with a lot of extra's, never released before. Somewhere in the middle is this excellent box with ALL the original albums and their songs in the correct order (plus a nice booklet with an essay and plenty of photos) and on Coda 4 tracks, like the single B-side only "Hey, Hey What Can I Do?". The sound is crisp and clear, and is a joy to listen to. This is the way the music is meant and you cannot wish for more. Is shows the strength of Led Zeppelin as musicians, writing solid songs, performing them with an array of divers instruments, reaching their height with the outstanding Physical Graffiti, after already having 5 wonderful albums recorded (plus the leftovers on Coda, not available on the standalone CD of that album), but getting in decline with the somewhat lesser albums Presence, stripped down blues/hard rock, and the rather deviating In Through the Out Door. In total you get a splendid overview of what the band was capable of (which not many acts can compare to let alone surpass) and make you own choice of what to listen to and in which combination. For anyone who likes good music this is strongly recommended. Led Zeppelin was often labeled as a hard rock band but they showed time and time again to play a lot of other music as well. In 10 years they made the best thinkable music that can be heard, over 100 songs. At the time of III, IV and Houses of the Holy they wrote so many songs that couldn't be fit on the vinyl album and were shelved, later to be included on the double album Physical Graffiti or Coda. But besides that they completed another superb album with 8 new tracks of such unheard quality. At that time they were on a peak. So get a grip on this collection and enjoy yourself immensely, .
