My new best friend!
Okay I'll say right off, maybe I should get more friends! But as a man who is a self-styled amateur chef, I have been pining for one of these types of cookers for a couple of years now. I always find a way to squeeze in one more item on the countertop. I choose this model based on reviews, features and brand name. I use my Instant Pot pressure cooker on a semi-regular basis and it is also a great cooking appliance, so I trust the brand name, and it doesn't disappoint. I first took the air fryer into the garage and ran it through a couple of cycles before using it in the kitchen. There was clearly some smell as noted elsewhere, likely from manufacturing. By the time I used it "for real" on the 3rd run, barely any smell. And by the next time...no discernable smell at all. My complaints are small, but let me get those out of the way. I wished it preheated up to temp faster. It's advertised in such a way that you think in 60 seconds, you're cooking. In my experience, it's 5+ minutes to get it to 400. Faster than an oven for sure, but not quite the blink of an eye I was hoping for. Second - the beeper is not loud enough. It beeps to tell you it's now at cooking temp, to rotate food or when food is done. For some reason, it seems louder to tell you food is done than it does to tell you the preheating is finished and to add food. You've got to be very close, so you can hear (or see) when it's up to proper temp. Since most foods are specifically timed, if you don't get your food in shortly after it heats up, it will start counting down whether there is food in it or not. Neither of these takes away from the overall 5 stars. I've had it for about 4 weeks and have tried a variety of items. I used the roast feature for skinless salmon. Amazing taste and quick. I found that 10 minutes was perfect for my fish. Others might find mine slightly overcooked, so experiment. It took about 3 tries for my fresh sweet potato fries to come out perfectly. I finally got it right at 20 minutes at 400 in the basket using the air fry function. Evenly cooked and delish. I did homemade coconut shrimp. I can't remember the exact time - it seems like 12 minutes at 380 but I'm going by memory. There are recipes out there to cross-check my memory. Again - used the air fry function. Baked potatoes were the best I've ever made at home. If you like potato skin, check this out. I rubbed them in olive oil, then lightly sprinkled sea salt, black pepper, and a blend of spices that is mostly garlic powder on the outside. These were large potatoes but I guessed and I guessed right - 400 degrees on bake setting for 50 minutes. Perfectly done inside and a nice crispy and tasty skin. You'll have to take a stab at it based on potato size. HUGE potatoes could be up to 60 minutes. Small taters - might be as low as 25 or 30 minutes. Other items I've done are quick prep items. Some frozen and breaded shrimp were perfectly done at 8 minutes at 400. Frozen tater tots same temp at 8-10 minutes. I sprayed a light coating of olive oil and salt on the tator tots. Crispy and delish. Everything so far has been easy and delicious. I have not used all functions - only bake, air fry, and broil so far. If you're on the fence and you like to cook, take the leap! 3/5/23 update: still really enjoying my air fryer. I find that it makes fish taste amazing. The dinner shown in the photo is flounder and sides. The flounder was cooked about 7 minutes using the broil function. Rubbed a bit of avocado oil, then used some fresh thyme and lemon pepper seasoning and a touch of garlic spice blend. Squeezed some lemon over the top, and broiled perfectly. I still use it, still enjoy it and continue to recommend it!

Nice compact air fryer
I had a 4 quart version of this that I loved, but I was ready to upgrade to a larger size. I love this one! It’s still compact enough for my apartment countertop, has a ton of settings, works great, and the warning beeps are even less annoying than my old one. It seems to be of good quality and the controls are pretty easy to use. My food comes out nice and crisp every time and is comparable to the cook time of my smaller version. The light feature is nice as well. Easy to clean.

Great gift too. Overnight from Amazon.
Great product! Very fast cooking but it doesn't over cook the food. Great for frozen French fried foods, fish, potatoes, etc. Burgers, hot dogs, fried or bake fish. 13 Minute Hardboiled eggs too. Easy clean up. Very reasonable priced at $150! Well made. Easy countertop storage.

Picky perfectionist says: pretty good, but not amazing
Let me tell you, I did a mountain of research on these things as I was trying to figure out what to replace our recalled Cosori air fryer with. The recall thing is stupid - they want you to cut the cord, send them a picture, and then a month to two months later, you'll get a replacement. Sorry - we need to fry food NOW, not in a month or two! So, we wanted a modest upgrade, and we liked the brushed stainless look to go with our other appliances. I combed through Consumer Reports, Wirecutter, and far too many Amazon reviews of air fryers. Finally, given the positive experience we'd had with our Instant Pot, I thought we'd give their take on the air fryer a try. Here are my thoughts after we've used it for close to a month: The Smell: it's real. It takes about an hour and a half of use overall for it to drop to unnoticeable levels. We did the first couple of burn-in runs, and had to air the kitchen out with fans. From there, I guess we used it about 30 minutes per day for several days before the roasting electrical insulation smell mostly died down. The Simplicity: it's maybe a tad too simple for an air fryer costing what it does. You get, I think, 6 main category options, and then can customize temperature and cooking time for each one. You can't save any settings, create any presets, or modify the frankly annoying beep volume. The Infernal Beeping: the beeps are fairly loud, and the Instant Vortex is very chatty. It wants to tell you when it's heated up, when to shake stuff, and when its done. It REALLY wants you to know it's done, so much so that it doesn't stop beeping when you pull the drawer out - it's gonna say what it has to say, okay? The Quiet: I know I just complained about the beeping, but maybe it only annoys me so much because it stands in such contrast to the otherwise quiet air fryer operation. I swear this thing is about half as loud as the Cosori was, and that's really nice. It's like having a table fan set on high on your counter, vs. a small jet engine. The Touchscreen: this was a sore point with the Cosori, as its sensitivity was crap, and you often had to mash an icon like 6 times before anything would happen. It got even worse as the display got smudged with fingerprints. The Instant Vortex has no such issues, and the touch surface is consistently responsive. Two-stage Cooking: the Cosori was a simple device: you picked your settings, dumped your food in, and came back when it was done. I suppose you can do the same with the Instant Vortex, but it's designed a bit more like a conventional oven. You have a preheat phase, then it beeps several times, flashing an "Add Food Now" on the front, and then continues on if you don't do anything. So, if you're real precise with your temperatures, this is a nice feature. But, if you want to set and forget, it just means an additional salvo of beeping compared to the Cosori. Cleaning: I liked the Corsori's design, even though it was difficult to clean the internal basket with its many angled vents and channels. The Vortex is a little trickier to use, as it has this grate that sits in the bottom of the main cooking pan. You end up removing the whole pan assembly and tipping your food out most of the time. The only way you can remove just the grate is via a little pop-up D-ring in the center of it, which if fine once the unit has cooled down, but not really useful while its still hot. So, not necessarily better or worse - just different. We got used to it. Did I mention the beeping? 😉

So Easy Even My Kids Use It (Which Is Both Helpful and Slightly Concerning)
love this air fryer. The 10QT size is amazing, especially for a family, because you can actually cook a decent amount of food at once instead of doing five tiny batches while everyone circles the kitchen like hungry vultures. It cooks evenly, heats up fast, and everything comes out crispy without feeling greasy. We’ve done fries, chicken, leftovers, random freezer foods… honestly it’s become one of the most used appliances in the house. The best part? Even my kids use it. Which means sometimes I walk into the kitchen and someone has magically made their own snack instead of announcing they’re starving while standing three feet from the pantry. Parenting win. The controls are simple, the presets are helpful, and it’s been super reliable so far. If you’re debating getting a larger air fryer, the extra space is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend — especially if you want to slowly train your kids to feed themselves. 😄

Excellent little air fryer
I am surprised how much I love this small air fryer. I had not wanted one, but my kids were constantly begging for one. I wanted to get a small one that was still useful and I found the perfect one. It heats up quickly, it cooks perfectly, and it is super easy to clean. I suppose if I had to criticize one thing it would be how loud and slightly unpleasant the beeping is (to let you know when it's ready / when to flip your food / when it's done). But that doesn't change anything for me. It is truly a great air fryer. I've only air fried or reheated so far; I haven't tried the other programs.

Perfect for our Kitchen
My wife is in love with this. It does everything she wants and more, and she now seeks out products with which to use this thing. I got silocone liners and they're priceless. Cleaning up is almost nothing, the healthier results of her use are very tasty and well produced. Thanks, Instant Pot!

Smell all gone!
So, I got my airfryer 2 days ago.... everyone was absoutely correct when they saind this airfryer REALLY stinks when ya first run it....I mean....REALLY reaks of plastic!! Having said that... I first ran it at 400 degrees for 45 mimute intervals approx 5 times.....didnt do much to help it. My house filled up with a very unpleasant plastic smell.. So, I then got a small pyrex bowl and filled it way up with vinegar and several big healthy squeezes of lemon juice concentrate......twice......I gotta tell ya.....that did the trick 100%. Tonite I made a baked potatoe and bbq chicken fingers in it. It is an amazing little machine....it really cooks easy....and well. There isnt one single little bit of smell or bad taste of any kind...one of the best purchases I have made in a long time!!! Sure hope this little machine holds up....its a great addition to my kitchen!!!
