Caster Socket Sleeve Round Inserts, 7/16" Stem, 7/8" Outside Diameter - Set of 5

These fit snugly in our metal bed frame. These are manufactured to accept 7/16 stems and all the pastic feet I found were 1/2. I tried drilling the first one with a 1/2 drill and it was too much all at once. Did the next four 1/64 of an inch at a time and made the hole large enough to work with out 1/2 stem feet. Would have preferred to buy plug this size ready for 1/2 diameter stems but this was the best I could find.

Older office chair, these didn't fit (unfortunately, it was Dad's favorite chair). Wish they had fit.

Once you drill out the hole it works great!

I ordered the wrong type casters for my particular needs. I am keeping them though because they look like they would be very good on something else. It is easy to see that they're well made and will last for years. I am positive that I will be able to use them on some future project.

So easy! With a 1" Forstner bit I drilled a1/4" deep recess for the outer rim. Then I changed to a 7/8" Forstner and drilled to the full insertion depth. With a few taps of a soft-faced hammer, they slipped snugly in. When I say snug I mean they are not coming out unless you employ some significant tool work.Be sure you've drilled deep enough because the first insertion is also the last.

The fit was perfect, the caster stem fit perfectly. It lasted a whole 2 days before the ribbing in the plastic socket started caving in. The stem distorted and it started slowly listing to the side while I was sitting in it. Multiple sockets are distorted and my stool is useless. The manufacturer needs to use much harder materials.
