W84603 Door Spring Tool: Professional-Grade Tool for Easy and Safe Removal and Installation of Automaker Door Springs

FINALLY!!!! A Door Spring Tool that works. Well made and worked perfectly with a 13mm box wrench. Left the spring compressed in the tool until the hinges were replaced (about and hour) and then reinstalled the spring. SUPER simple!

Had to have when replacing door pins on my 1996 s10. Worth every penny.

After reading several reviews. I was holding my breath that mine wouldn't bend b4 I could get this incredibly strong spring. In the door hinge on a 99 GMC Suburban. I had tried to get the spring compressed down enough 5 or 6 times. I had to keep readjust the spring. My stress level went up every time I started tightening the bolt. I was shying away from going to the 1st coil on either end of the spring. Then noticing it seemed to be better to Not push the spring deep into the notch. Better to have it "half" way in. So I dug up a couple HD steel strips like you'd use to connect a Jack to the front of your boat trailer. I went with 2 sizes. Bonus I didn't need to drill any holes in the flat bar. I also ground the left side of the V notch on the tool. I noticed the spring had a tendency to sit in on that side and wasnt leaving enough opening for the spring to index on the seats. Good news my tool didn't bend. Bad news the tool wasn't able to compress the spring far enough to put it up in place and back off the bolt. No but I was able to get the spring inplace on the pivot side. On the humped side the spring was Soooo close! Did I mention it's a super stiff spring?! Notice in the pictures the one piece of flat bar sticks out about an inch in the back of the tool. Perfect for getting a crescent wrench on. Then i was able to twist the whole contraption while simultaneously using a hammer to get that spring to just start going on it's seat!! then I was able to use a large punch and a BFH to finally seat the spring!! Had I had a second person that struggle wouldn't have been quite so anxiety ridden! Then again, it's a tight spot for 2 people. Another issue on that top hinge. The head of the hinge pin will interfere with the spring. If the hinge pin isn't seated in far enough. If your not as flexible as you once were you may not see the pin in the way. If you don't make the effort to bend over far enough to see that pin head b4 the spring is half way in. Then it's much more difficult. Good Luck it's a real hoot!

Would give it 0 stars if possible. Bent after first use to take door spring out, When putting it back in it completely lost shape and wouldn’t compress spring at all. I would want to return it, but I had to drill a literally hole and makeshift it into my own spring compressor just for it to work. waste of money and even more valuable time.

Enough said, it's great. Be careful as the spring is under a lot of tension and will fly to the moon if it slips out after removed from the door.

Did exactly what I bought it for and is solidly built. For the price it blows the local offerings away.
