Guilt By Degrees
Author: Marcia ClarkPublished By: Mulholland BooksAge Recommended: AdultReviewed By: Arlena DeanRating: 5Review:"Guilt By Degrees" by Marcia Clark was full of suspense, mystery and also a thriller intriguing read. We find thirty-four year old, LA District Attorney Rachel Knight and her friend, Detective Bailey Keller will investigate a homeless man murder and this will take them to a murder of a LAPD policeman. Trying to solve both of these cases will lead them into a dangerous path that will take them where "they will need to uncover a complex story to uncover the truth and risking their lives in the process." It seems the deeper they get into this investigation, both Knight and Bailey are seeing just how dangerous their opponent really is. You will find "Guilt By Degrees" to be a well written novel and enjoyable to read that will keep you turning the pages for more. Be ready for many twist and turns that will keep you trying to guess who this is as the story unfolds. This author writes a novel that is "fulled with mesmerizing details, characters that you can relate to, and an abundance of unbelievable plot diversity." If you are in for a thrill of a ride 'though the world of the LA court system'...you have come to the right place... for "Guilt By Degrees" will take you there and Yes, I would recommend this novel.

This series is good but with an annoying point...
I enjoy this series. Well written and concise-but if this character mentions her food consumption/or restraint in dealing with her food consumption one more time, I'll scream! I get it-she watches her weight -but we don't need to hear about it all.the.time. I noticed this point in the last book and was annoyed and it continues in this book. Quite frankly I realize the author is likely attempting to make the character more relatable-however, it's just very annoying. Stop it! Just eat or don't but we don't need to be party to that point every time she has a meal!!!! Otherwise, the book is very good.

Good Guilt by Degrees
Fiction (Mystery)449 pages / 598 KBFootnotes / Endnotes: NoIllustrations: NoSuitable for eReaders: Yes5 StarsWhen the OJ Simpson murder trial played prime time on Cable TV, I had an opportunity to watch part of it. In fact, I became hooked on Court TV (alas, no longer available) and enjoyed watching Marcia Clark. Guilt by Degrees is the first mystery by her I've read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Mysteries aren't normally my genre of choice, but this was great fun. And I just ordered another one for my Kindle. Perhaps mysteries are becoming my genre of choice?I would have preferred a slightly different ending, but hey, I didn't write the book! And, I have a feeling (hope?) I'll get my ending in another book. The start of the book was a bit like putting a picture puzzle together - working from the outside in, rather than a linear storyline. I enjoyed it. And she did get all the pieces in place by the end of the book for the complete picture.Rachel Knight, Ms. Clark's protagonist, is a prosecuting attorney in the Special Trials unit. When one of her cohorts almost loses the case of a homeless man's murder through his ineptness, she grabs it, and with the help of a couple of good friends, finds out the case is not all that simple. Are they ever?Turns out the homeless man had ties to a cop who was brutally murdered a couple years before. Everyone knows his wife - everyone, that is, but the jury of her peers who saw an innocent woman and acquitted her - killed him. Ms. Knight, of course, must dig into the old killing as she tries to solve the new murder. Many have told me that trials are high drama with limited sets. Although little of this story takes place in a courtroom, there is great drama in the pages of this book. Marcia Clark knows her way around the legal system, and has the ability to write about it in a gripping way, with enough humor thrown in so it doesn't become either tedious or too dark. I hope her other books keep the same set of characters. They're great fun. Well, except for the bad guys who get there just rewards. Don't they?

Suspenseful while being human enough to be endearing ~
I didn't realize who Marcia Clark was until the end of the book when it explains who she is, while for some reason the name seemed vaguely familiar. I LOVED the book, the characters and how she wrote the story. Full of suspense as well as personal moments, it held my interest quite well. Just enough of the mix. In logging on to Amazon to review this book, I discovered there are more Rachel Knight novels by Marcia Clark, and I am stoked, hoping that I will find the answers to the questions left in my head at the end of this book. I had been disappointed that Rachel's childhood and the communication she had received, had not come to some fruition. But now that i know there are at least four other Rachel Knight novels out there, it is likely answered in one, or perhaps over all four of them, but I will (hopefully) get my answer in time. I found Marcia's writing style easy to follow, and could almost picture all the scenes in the book in my head, at least to a satisfiable degree. Following the various ins and out of the story was intriguing, and I enjoyed the book immensely. I am relishing that there is MORE to read!!

Mixture of Riszzolli and Isles
This was recommended by a friend otherwise, I might not have read as I might have thought it would be too dry and full of courtroom details.Instead I found an interesting heroine with a life in addition to being a DA, who has great friends and a passion for justice. The author draws some quirky warm characters, some on the shady side, and also does a good job of bringing to life, those who are divorced from human feeling and who are freaky dangerous. She gets the meanness of crimes across without being too graphic. Has some humor and great restaurant reviews (not being from California, I will assume they actually exist). The heroine exercises, looks good, likes to dress up on occasion and packs a gun she can use, bringing to mind a blend of the TV characters Rizzoli and Isles. I enjoyed

Fine read
Second author book I’ve read, second on Rachel Knight series. I liked the plot. But maybe for times the author describes too much drinking / clothing / restaurant eating stuff. Even so, I’d recommend it and will most likely read the third book in series. Try it.

A top quality murder suspense story, just the kind I like. Written by an author with firsthand experience with the system she writes about.. Couldn't ask for better.

Great read
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I couldn't put it down!!! Marcia Clark is a great writer and I'll be purchasing more of her books. No slow periods in the writing and a great pace to the characters.

Rasant, spannend
