Linux support is there, but don't try using libnfc.
So. First of all, I'm using Linux to operate with this, so this is only about Linux performance. First of all, I had to compile libnfc using a patch, which made it return what the specs actually detail. However, libnfc also doesn't work well with Node.js, which I'm using this for. Quick advice to Node.js users, use pcsclite on npm, and simple-pcsc for just getting uid. Haven't been able to write to any tags or such with this other wise. Product works well at least.

Great Reading Distance
Used this for my xNT by dangerous things and it's great and easy to set up. If on windows use GoToTags windows if using a nfc device casually.

Plug and play with libnfc 1.7 On Kali (Backtrack) Linux
Worked out of the box for me with libnfc 1.7 on Kali Linux (32 bit). The linux drivers, and documentation that you get from the vendors site are VERY dated, and they just plain didn't work for me. I'm subtracting 1 star because of the manufacturers driver and documentation issues. I had some initial issues with USB pass thru on VMware workstation and ended up needing to go to a bare metal Kali install, vs my preferred virtualized lab. (I sank about 4 hours into resolving Vmware compatibility issues before giving up; I needed to focus on my primary objective.) I also have the Adafrurit NFC shield for Arduino which works great and gives you very low level control but isn't compatible with libnfc. If you plan to do some serious Mifare reverse engineering or pen testing: you're going to want to have the option of using the existing code base available for libnfc. ProTip: This is listing is about $10 US more then the same unit bought elsewhere. However getting it elsewhere probably won't get it to you at Amazon prime shipping speeds... or overnighted for dirt cheap. Which might be critical if Mifare turns up early in a pentest engagement.
