Another great Titans Return Figure.
Soundwave, is one of the closest soldiers by Megatron. He is by far the most loyal, and potentially the most important to the Decepticon cause. He is one of the few that commands his own troops, in this case an army of spies that are, in this version, different types of computer tablets. Think of the world being taken over by iPhones, and there is an old school boombox pulling the strings. When I got Blaster, I knew Soundwave was going to be just as good. Using the same base body, they changed out a bunch of the parts to create a similar, but not too similar robot and boombox. In robot mode, he has his telltale yellow visor and extra silver helmet extensions on the sides of his head. Was it a helmet before? I think not. It sure is this time around. His chest opens, in much the same way as his G1 counterpart did. He has the same "tablet" that Blaster had, that has a trio of blasters of it's own to help with some firepower in another mode. Blaster and Soundwave are very similar, but the color difference, and the subtle parts changes, especially around the legs, really change the robot mode. Soundwave gets two birds this time around. Blaster gets none. Poor Blaster. Soundblaster, not to get confused with Blaster the big robot, is the Titan Master for Soundwave. In the G1 continuity, Soundwave was killed by Blaster, and later reborn into Soundblaster. In the IDW continuity, Soundblaster was a clone of Soundwave. Now we have the two as separate robots, but teaming up together to wreak havoc on the Autobots. He is a remodel of Twin Cast, who was teamed up with Blaster. That is why, if you look closely, most of him looks like Soundwave, but his legs have the speakers of Blaster. Change Soundwave into his alternate mode, and you have a giant, for the scale, boombox. Soundwave looks so different than Blaster. The whole front has been redone, including the speakers, cassette door, and the buttons under the door. It is quite amazing how much work Hasbro went to in order to separate these two figures. Great job! From the back, you can see the shoulder launcher becomes a sort of battery pack, and the gun is an antenna, like it was for Blaster. But wait, there's more. Transform him again, and he becomes a battle station. Not a great battle station but one that fits lots of little guys. Now Blaster and Soundwave can have the smallest war ever. From a plethora of Titan Masters with their little vehicles, to the tablets each has, to the other small Legends scale figures.

Soundwave is Superior
Great homage to the original figure from 1980s. This is a sturdy, three modes in one transformer which includes a smaller second transformer to interact with the larger one. Transforms from a giant robot, to a boom box, to a base for titan masters and back again. Swap heads around with other titan master figures (sold separately) for a different look and endless play ability. The figure I received is sturdy with tight joints which allow for many different poses. I highly recommend this figure for all collectors.

Brilliantly Realized Classic with All New Style
As a long time Transformers fan, I get excited about this kind of you to begin with. but the Combiner Wars team has gone above and beyond with their latest iterations, and I am ecstatic to say that Leader Class Soundwave stands up strong within the line up. Like most of the CW line, Soundwave is a marvel of transforming design, with slick paneling and impressive detail both inside and out. He is also deceptively sturdy, his transformation sequence revealing hollow legs and an interesting choice of ankle join that looks feeble but takes a beating in both balance and posing and keeps on trucking. Literally my only nitpicks for this whole character are the yellow visor and the fact that he can't hold more than one Cassette at a time. He bashes out pose after pose and looks so darn cool doing it. A must have for any Soundwave fan. Now I just need Rumble and Buzzsaw...

Had to order a second one for my jealous husband lol
My son loves transformers.... But Soundwave is his favorite. It seems like toys of him are much less common than many other decepticons, which is surprising because he's the obvious badass in the group. Not only does he turn into a base, but also a stereo?! The coolest feature is that you can actually buy his little bots and they fit in his chest. This is an incredibly impressive toy. It's surprisingly strong considering all the little pieces. My son is 4 and he's had his for about 6 months without breaking a single piece of him. But last week I ordered one for my husband because he's been pretty jealous, so he had one in his man cave and he loves his just add much as our son loves his!

Great Soundwave !
If Soundwave is one of your favorite Transformers then you should consider purchasing this item. The bot-form and the boom box mode are really nice ! Not so sure about the battle station thing but it doesn't hurt the value of the product.

Soundwave: Superior. Blaster: Inferior
Soundwave, the iconic loyal Decepticon. This figure is notable in that it actually looks good in all three modes (I found that Powermaster Optimus Prime's base mode seemed a bit messy by comparison). His minicassette player mode is, of course, kind of boring since it's immobile but it still looks good. My one grip is that it's hard to get his feet to stay level due to how they're attached. You can actually pose him with Laserbeak or Buzzsaw emerging from his chest, which looks pretty cool.

A great addition, with a few flaws
**EDIT** So over a few months, the gold paint around his cassette holder section has flaked off nearly completely. I've just re-painted it yellow like his G1 incarnation. Also there are stress marks forming in his cassette holder on the part in front just from holding Lazerbeak. Downed my review one star. This guy is huge, a perfect homage to the G1 Soundwave, very solid plastic and best of all, he's easy to transform! I love the way the Titans Return line is bringing back G1. Only complaint is the "remote" piece doesn't seem to let the headmaster fit in the back for storage very at least on mine.

A solid modern update of a classic favorite.
This model of Soundwave is a good update on the original. He's modernized to a boombox (if that's modern) and his tapes have been replaced with tablets. Transforming this Soundwave is very simple and he feels sturdy. He's very stable and can be posed well.

Only real problem is the gold paint on his chest chips away pretty much a week after I opened him
