This little kit has the goods, a high quality phonograph protractor to set the proper angle of attack for the stylus in the cartridge to accurate tracking, but it is up to the user to inspect the "squareness" of the position of the cartridge which is a difficult thing to do I would say. Looking down from overhead seems like a good method, as well as looking dead on to the front of the cartridge, but it's just not a scientifically dependable method of measuring the "squareness" of the cartridge to the printed target. I did the best that I could do, and cross fingers it's close to being correct. The azimuth thing I couldn't comprehend, so I didn't use it nor would I attempt to loosen the attachment of the tonearm to make adjustments to satisfy the indicator on the scaled clear plex measuring "block".

The time came when I couldn't put it off any longer, and I had to convert all my vinyl LP's over to digital. My turntable had not even been plugged in for almost 15 years, so it was a massive cleaning effort to get the turntable in shape again. I bought this set up to make sure the cartridge and stylus were aligned correctly. To be honest, "back in the day", items like this weren't even available. This set-up system worked like a champ, showing some slight mis-alignments that have been there since day one of this turntable's life. After I tweeked the cartridge, and set the tone arm weight, the turntable performed flawlessly, better than it ever had before. It's easy to use, and really makes a difference in performance. So, whether you are just getting started with vinyl, or resurrecting and old dinosaur turntable, this really helps the setting up process.

I bought this package for the azimuth / VTA adjustment block. It's the perfect tool when you're installing a new cartridge and you want to check that your tonearm and cartridge are both perfectly level to the record surface. I had hoped the protractor would be of some use but it's basically useless. Anyone doing an install should get an arc protractor for this. Also, the hole for the spindle was too small and it got stuck. I ended up having to break the thing to get it off! Buy this product for sure, but use the block and don't even bother with the protractor.

The protractor itself is really good. The VTA is not bad but it’s extremely difficult to read the print on the acrylic block. For those who don’t understand the part that comes with the actual protractor is a small acrylic square to help ensure the tone arm head is balanced. It took a lot getting this right during my new set up. If the print on the acrylic was more bold I’d say it’s an affordable ensemble. Overall the protractor here is probably more accurate than jumping on the internet to download who knows what. I tried to find my turntable through various sites on the net and could not. Finally gave up and bought this. No regrets.

Liked - easy to use, after tweaking the tone arm and cartridge there was a marked difference in the sound. Disliked - had to go to YouTube to get better directions on proper use. Very happy with my purchase.

if your not prepared to be patient with it ,it will you never work properly.i took a long time and had to repeat some steps ,but it did improve the channel separation and the over all sound quality.

This system does what it says. There are more elaborate systems out there that have one or two more features but this covers the basics. The instructions are included. The price is quite reasonable. Recommended.

I have SL-1200GR with Nagaoka MP-200. Stock headshell. I eyeballed the cartridge install, and things looked good. WOW, did the tool show otherwise. Tonearm was aligned, azimuth and cartridge were significantly mis-aligned. Tool makes it very easy to see.
