I love this book. It provides graphic depictions of structural design for easy reference.

Love the simple instruction and illustrations. Everything you need to build a solid project.

As a rough carpenter, Ill say that this book has a wealth of information regarding stick frame construction. From foundations to roof framing, it'll give you a picture of how it all comes together. Plus plenty of common design variances and reasonings for each to expand your construction knowledge. Complaints of mine are that the book doesn't delve in to heavy framing, nor does it touch upon A-Frame structures. So, this book is focused on the more mass produced style of light framing we typically see today in suburban/urban areas. That aside, it's worth noting that this book won't hold your hand in exactly how to assemble an entire structure. Those with a background in, or moderate understanding of, rough carpentry will find this book more useful than someone seeking to learn from the ground up. For the latter I recommend getting firsthand experience in the field or seeking another text catered to the crowd. Still, I would say that this is a worthwhile resource to pick up.

A must have for architectural designers. I refer to this wherever I’m working on construction documents.

I have been planning on buying a cheap piece of land here in Indiana to build a large cabin style bunkhouse to go camping and host events (cookouts, shooting, archery, etc.) , This book covers a lot of the standard build styles and code/regulations stuff that a guy might look over.

I have used this book for nearly fifteen years since the first edition as a reference both as a carpenter and home builder. Detailed drawings, clear text, alternate building methods and materials. This is the bible of frame construction and finishing details. I have tried numerous carpentry books and this is the absolute best.

I've learned so much by consulting with this book. Very useful and easy to understand graphics and details for anyone involved in remodeling, designing and detailing engineering/architectural plans and projects.

I bought this book because I am about to undertake a major renovation of a small house I have owned for some time. I wanted to be in a knowledgeable position to discuss the foundation and the framing of the home's additions when I begin working on the construction drawings with the architect. Also, I just find knowing this stuff to be interesting, since most people have very limited knowledge about how their homes are constructed.
