I have used other Kreg items in the past and was pleased with the quality. I needed to install some soft close hinges and looked on Amazon for drilling fixtures. The other brands were close in price (one was actually only $15). I decided to spend the extra $12 for something I felt may offer more quality long term if I needed to use it again. The fixture is well built. I found the Fostner bit was sharp enough for the pine cabinet doors I worked with. Some reviews mention it being a bit dull. I installed 40 hinges with zero issues. The only thing the fixture lacks is the 1/16" drill bit required for the hinge mounting. They should include two of those and provide a place under the fixture plate to store them. They have a slot for the hex key provided and they could add the drill bits next to that. Good fixture for the price point. Made quick work of installing the hinges. Would be very tedious to lay it all out by hand.

This jig made the job easy and fast. One of the best jigs Kreg makes. Make sure to clamp both sides, and you should have no problems.

My wife and I are in the process of buying her parents' house, and we decided to paint the kitchen cabinets to freshen up the space. Since we were going to have the cabinet doors off, we also decided to replace the old standard hinges with Euro-Style, soft-close hinges. I soon learned that this would require boring a hole in the back of the door a certain distance from the edge, and the project got a lot more complicated. This jig made the installation of the hinges incredibly simple! With the information from your hinge manufacturer, you can set the position of the bore holes easily. The other built-in measuring scale lets you make the hole in the same vertical position on each door. The Forstner bit that comes with the jig is the standard, 35mm diameter, and includes a stop collar to help you bore the holes to the correct depth. As if that wasn't enough, there are also guides for drilling pilot holes for the hinge hardware. Tips: You are going to need a CORDED drill (if you're doing more than a door or two), as the boring will wear down a cordless battery very quickly. You are going to need a couple of clamps (I got my mine from Kreg, as well) to secure the jig while you are drilling. It's nice to have a second pair of hands to help you clamp while you hold the jig in the correct position. It's also nice to have a second drill (cordless would be fine) set with the bit to drill the pilot holes so you don't have to switch bits back and forth. Finally, we discovered that using a shop vac while boring dramatically reduced the mess, and made clean up at the end a breeze. I really can't say enough positive things about this product. It saved us tons of time and produced great results.

Worked for what I needed it for. The bit tends to grab break away if plate is not secured strongly. You need to take a bit of at a time. No where like a fostner bit. Just take your time cutting and it’ll come out perfect.

Works just as described. The negative reviews look like users were trying to break the jig. It's solid and if used as it should be, it works fine.

Does the job period appears to be good quality

This tool makes cabinet work so much easier! This is my second one because somehow I lost the set screw for the bit depth.
