Easy, Effective Descaling — Great Alternative to Vinegar
I make a lot of coffee, so keeping my machine clean and running properly is a priority. I didn’t want to risk using vinegar and water on my Moccamaster, so I decided to try this Descaling Powder Solution, and I’m really glad I did. The process is simple and straightforward, and it does a great job breaking down scale buildup without any hassle. It works quickly and leaves the machine clean without any lingering odor like vinegar can. What I like most is the peace of mind—I feel confident using this on my coffee equipment knowing it’s designed specifically for descaling. My machine runs smoothly after each use, and I expect this will help extend its lifespan over time. With multiple uses in one package, it’s also a good value if you descale regularly. Overall, this is a reliable, easy-to-use descaling solution that I’ll continue using. If you want to properly maintain your coffee maker without using vinegar, this is a great option.

Works very well. Rinse completely!
I have a 5 liter countertop boiler for heating water for tea, soup, anything that needs near-boiling water. It has an electric pump in it to dispense the water, at the press of a button or by holding the container you want to dispense into against a small lever, similar to a soda fountain. The boiler tank is stainless steel, and can get a build-up of minerals on it over time, but the worst is the pump and the hose that carries the hot water to the dispenser nozzle. THAT gets clogged with minerals after a while. You can scour out the tank if you want, but there's no way to scrub out the pump and hose. For that, you need to dissolve the minerals out. I filled the tank with cold water and added a single packet of Dezcal. Even though the instructions call for a packet to treat a liter of water, it works fine in this case on five liters. This is because the descaler works on the minerals the entire time the tankful heats up. It doesn't have to just work while it's flowing from the smaller tank of a coffeepot to the spout. As it heated up, I put a big 1-liter pyrex measuring cup under the spout, and pressed the button to dispense water. The nozzle and pump inlet were very crusty with minerals, so it was a tiny trickle only...which is why I was treating it to begin with. This let some of the warm cleaner into the pump inlet, hose, and nozzle, where I let it sit another few minutes as the tank continued to heat. Every few minutes, I'd push the button to let a bit more flow through the pump, the solution in the assembly slowly eating the minerals away. By the time I could get the first liter through, the flow was almost completely restored. I poured out the first liter into the sink, replaced the cup, and ran another liter through in a few long streams. This was to make sure there was strong, hot descaler solution in the system. By the time I got the entire 5 liters pumped through, the entire thing was clean and descaled. Then I ran two full tanks of clean water through the system to remove the remaining cleaning chemical. Dezcal cleaned out the minerals in this boiler with a minimum of effort, and best of all, NO NASTY VINEGAR SMELL! I hate using vinegar to clean the coffee maker or the boiler, because the whole house smells like a pickle barrel for hours. This had no smell whatsoever! I still have three doses in the box to use when the minerals build back up again! This was effortless! Well worth the cost!
