Zing Ear TP-01 ZH Touch Lamp Light Dimmer Switch Control Sensor - desertcart.com Review: It can and does work with LED dimmable bulbs (but potentially not perfectly) - TL:DR Does work with LED bulbs but results may vary depending on bulb used. Unlike other past reviews I've seen I did receive a diagram of how to wire the control unit and it was exactly how it needed to be wired (same as what's listed in the promo pics for this controller). I have this very nice Coke lamp with a glass stained shade that's at least 30 years old and in very nice shape, except for the fact that the touch controllers kept burning out basically every time a bulb blew. This new controller can and does in fact work with dimmable bulbs (though maybe not perfectly depending on the bulb). I tested specifically with Phillips 60w Dimmable LED Warm Glow Dimming w/ Clear Glass (Model # 556878, can be found at HomeDepot), it will work with the lowest and middle dim setting (first two touches) which appears to be just dim and full on for the bulb, while the 3rd (touch) setting makes it flicker. Even with that in mind I still give it 5 stars for the review because it actually works and saved a fantastic lamp from having to be butchered to put in a mechanical switch. Whether its the controller or the bulb that has the issue with the 3rd touch setting I don't know, but I can live with the two I can use as I still get a dim and full brightness option. Also, I did use an incandescent bulb first and all 3 dim settings worked appropriately with it. Review: LAMP DIMMER CONTROL WORKS GREAT - I ordered the Zing Ear TP-01 ZH Touch Lamp Dimmer because it had the same colored wires as the lamps old dimmer control. The new dimmer had no instructions, so I followed the same way the old dimmer control was wired, one wire at a time.. However, the wire nuts on the old dimmer control and lamp wires were crimped on so tight, I had to cut the wires, re-strip them and attach the new dimmer control wires to the lamp wires using a new wire nut. The end of the yellow wire that attaches in the center of the lamp, had to be modified, because the end had a much smaller round fastener. Once all the new dimmer wires were attached to the lamp wires, I plugged in the lamp, touched the lamp and wallah it worked perfectly. I would recommend this product, and the price of the dimmer control was minimal.

Touch Lamp Controller & Dimmable LED Bulbs
Based on MN_Jack76's picture and my own successful lamp rewire, I have redrawn the TP-01 diagram so that should be easier to follow - see attached. There is no apparent color code for lamp wiring so you have to understand where the wires travel inside your lamp. To be safe you should confirm with a multimeter the Continuity of the HOT, NUETRAL, HOT (Controlled Output), and Touch Sense from where each Wire Nut will be to the plug or socket or nut, respectively. Wires in a typical table lamp should have resistance in ohms around 0.1ohms to 0.2ohms and should trigger the beep on your multimeter if it is set to continuity. If you are using LED Bulbs make sure you use Dimmable ones as it is way too easy to mix them up with the non-dimmable which do not seem to work correctly with this controller. Enjoy

May or may not work for you
I purchased one of these units so that I might convert a Stickley floor lamp from incandescent to LED. The lamp had a touch sensitive OFF-LO-MED-HIGH switch in it already but that switch could not correctly control an LED bulb. While this unit can control LEDs despite the plastic case which reads "incandescent only", I had a different issue. The unit is not sufficiently sensitive to detect my touch through the longer electrical path of my floor lamp. I could touch the yellow wire within the base and that would turn the LED and run it through the low, medium, high, off cycle. But touching the lamp fixture at its top would not. (And that's where you have to touch this floor lamp.) I re-installed the old, incandescent only controller and voi la, again working as expected. And demonstrating that the electrical path there was indeed still fine. Net, net this unit CAN control incandescent and LED bulbs. It will not leave the LED on very dimly when turned OFF like older controllers will. HOWEVER, it may be too sensitive (or not sensitive enough) to handle some light fixtures: you may find that the touch control will not work for you. In essence, your mileage may vary (YMMV).

Couldn't get it to work.
Could not make this work. I've replaced this type of model before in the same lamp. However, my experience with this one is that it doesn't work/came to me faulty. I did not discover this until I had already undone the protective layer over the double-sided tape that came with it (rendering the tape portion unusable). So now I don't feel like I can return it. So, I took the same wiring in the lamp and a few of my other spare parts and converted the lamp into a standard 3/way switch, and the lamp works fine. It's just not a touch lamp anymore.

It works with 100 W Cree Brand LED
I almost didn't purchase this because of the reviews: some stated it worked, others stated no. So I took a chance. I must add that one has to be very careful with the wiring in that the lamp hot (black or smooth) and the neutral (ribbed or white) are appropriately connected, as per the supplied wiring diagram. I installed it and it works although it does not step down once touched after the high has been burning like my previous lamp. But I can live with that because I rarely used that. If it fails prematurely in the future I will amend this review but so far so good. I have an addendum: when I touch it down to off, it pops back on. I have to turn the lamp switch off to keep the lamp off

Easy to install
Easy to install. In my case I was replacing the old touch control from a lamp I bought in the late 90's. I was having a problem where an led bulb would put out a small amount of light when the lamp was supposed to be off. The install was straight forward. Everything was color coded and the wiring was exactly the same as the old controller. I did each connection one at a time disconnecting the old controller and the connecting the new so I did not get anything mixed up. I cut the old touch grounding ring off and put a slit in the new ring so I could slip it on with out having to disconnect all the wires just to put the ring on. Easy install and my lamp now works properly with an led bulb.
