Sea Story

The "Brambly Hedge" picture book book series by Jill Barklem, is for children & adults alike. I have collected the entire series (total of 8 tiny books) that she first published in1980's and then recently in 2014, 2017 & 2020. I also have the one larger earlier book that contains all the 4 seasons along with Jill Barklem's biography complete with a sweet photo of her as a little girl in England and several of her illustration sketches. These wonderfully illustrated stories of Field MIce and their woodland creature neighbors, are a delight to read. Upon receiving her first book in the 1980's, it has been my tradition to read each of the stories that coincide with one of her story's seasons. JIll Barklem, who passed away in 2017, was such an imaginative illustrator and author. I do believe she now is at play with her friends within the Brambly Hedge.

Jill Barklem collection is a must have for any child's imagination. A beautiful beautiful book. It was also delivered on time and in great condition.

The art work is lovely of course, but I am disapointed with the printing. (Printed in China is mentioned). The definition of the pictures are really bad, almost fuzzy and the colours are too dark. What a shame.

Arrived in pristine condition (bought as very good second hand) and the story is calm and comforting, yet full of quiet adventure, making it a joy to read aloud.
