Sturdy and well worth the extra cost
Previous grater wasn’t very sturdy so really pleased with the quality of this item. KitchenAid are always a bit more expensive but, in my opinion, well worth investing in. The container is very handy and fits really snugly into the base.

Truly great grater
Bigger than I expected but it’s great or should that be ‘grate’ lol 100% better than my old grater. Worth the extra money in my opinion

Brilliant quality sturdy and well made
This is a large grater and is sharp. It is very easy to grate all types of cheese. Whilst it size may be an issue if you are very tight on storage space, it does make cleaning it a real doddle as you easily get inside to clean it. From a top company, it should last for years. Yes it’s more expensive than other graters, but it is far better quality than the ones I returned. The plastic collection box is also good quality and does a decent job of collecting most of the cheese, but like all vertical graters, a small quantity of softer type cheese will always end up on the grating surface and not in the container.

It's grate.
We've been using an Oxo Good Grips grater for a couple of years and its good but we had issues (which is a shame as we use many of their kitchen products and they are very good). Pictures are with the Good Grips Grater for comparison. Quite simply it was too narrow which meant cleaning was hard and regularly missed cheese inside. The KitchenAid is a different beast. It's huge, it's cavernous, it's super sturdy, it's just great. The blades are very sharp and give a good 'shredded' effect on the cheese. Much easier to clean than the previous one and should last many years. Its not cheap, but then buy cheap buy twice (or more).

Too big
This one is a bit harder to grate on. Handle has good grip. It's also a bit bigger and not too handy and takes much space.

Quality is good. Size is huge. Messy to use.
If you are looking for a named kitchen appliance that stands out this is defo the one for you. It's huge. It's probably to large for most kitchen drawers but perhaps that the point. you have to keep it out to show off the brand. My only real complaint with it is when using it with the container. There is no proper seal. so you cannot be to vigorous when grating. Also if you are grating cheese. It's surprising how much actually stays on the outside of the grater in the form of debris. Obviously the container will not catch this so it falls all over the kitchen working surface. This makes it more messy that a non catching grater as with no container. you know everything will fall down and you prepare to catch the grated stuff. I tend to use it with a plate under container to catch all the mess.

Love it
When the grater arrived I thought it was a bit big but I'm now fine with it. The handle gives you a good grip while using and the cutting edges are nice and sharp. The box under the grater is a bonus, you grate directly into the box, use what you want and anything left can be put in the fridge. When empty the box fits up inside the grater, very good quality.

Fantastic
Can't believe I went for so long without a decent cheese grater. I've used a 1960s style cheese grater for all my life. At a distance this doesn't look much different However it's a world apart It's huge compared to my 40 year old grater Cheese glides over it and is grated so much faster It has a rubber bottom which stops the grater from slipping on the kitchen top The rubber comes off just perfectly easily so it can be detached for a dishwasher and is also super easy to put back on - yet doesn't slip off when you are using it - actually quite a feat I think ! It's slightly convex rounded shape makes it so much easier to use Finally it fits on top of a tub - if you like - which catches 90% of the cheese - and which has a lid so that you can save any excess gratings for the next time - ideal when you accidentally grate too much I'm kicking myself that presumably millions of people have made the switch to this sort of grater and I just didn't know about them If you are hesitant - don't be - just buy one. My whole family love it - including two very fussy 20-ish kids ...
