Great product for the price
I've had this rower for a little over a week and have used it almost every day. Mine has been as quiet as I could possibly have hoped for at this price point. It is significantly quieter than my bike trainer which allows me to work out before the family gets up. Looking at the product in person, I don't really know how other's are getting a noise that a lubricant can't fix. Assembly was pretty straight forward with all required tools included as part of the kit. Some of the print is a bit small in the pictures but if you've ever put something together out of a box it shouldn't be too difficult. Just as the pictures show, it can easily be flipped on end and easily rolled or stored. It seems like it would be fairly stable in this position but if you store it on carpet and have kids or a dog you might consider a strap to hold it upright. The resistance levels give a really good range for your workout. I've only maintained at the 6 and 7 levels (out of 8) for my 30+ minute rows. The feet straps seem a little cheap but so far have held up well. They would be easy to replace with a new Velcro strap if they broke. My only complaint is the the display devise. It seems to significantly undercount calories as compared to my fitness app. By the time I hit 36 minutes and 500 calories on my fitness app, the display was only showing between 25-30% of that total. I hold a heartrate of about 165 beats per minute for most of my workout and being in pretty good shape leads me to think the real total is closer to what my app is showing. Add this to the fact that the timer is off by over 30 seconds at the end of my workout as compared to my app and I'm leaning towards the display not really providing good, accurate data. The only thing it seems to do well is the row count. Taken all together I'd say this rower is about as good as you could hope for at this price point. It's quite, easy to assemble, stores and moves easily if you need it to, and has a good resistance range that provides a smooth workout. The only let down is the digital display which, for me, doesn't change the functionality.

Great machine at this price point
Easily assembled. Quiet and smooth. At my age (late 50s) a full body workout that's easy on the joints is ideal, and this rowing machine provides exactly what I was looking for. And I love that you can store it on end! The only thing close to negative for me personally is the seat. I just finished my first workout, and didn't last as long as I'd hoped because of the seat. I've read where others have purchased a gel pad, so I'll be hunting one of those down.

Excellent low-end rower. Some quality control issues.
Style 02 Magnetic PRO I bought this machine eighteen months ago to replace a Sunny Health and Fittness that I was disenamoured of. I have used it an hour a day (three x 20-min sets) pretty much daily since then. I consider it a good value for money. It can be somewhat delicate, and there are definite quality control issues, but customer support is excellent. The seat mounts on a little truck that moves on nylon rollers. The rollers give a smooth ride, but are very sensitive to dust and debris. I have dry skin, and if I flake onto the bar, I can tell it immediately I start rowing -- it feels like a washboard road. So I keep a towel next to the machine and wipe down the bar before and after each session. I also found the first four feet of tape tends to rub against the frame if I'm not careful, and this leads to shredding of the tape body. Someday it will wear through. There were two major quality control issues. First, their paint department left a sharp, four-inch long ridge of paint along the top. This chewed up one of the soft nylon rollers, and made the ride extremely uncomfortable. I contacted the company through Amazon and they sent a replacement roller set right away. It was but the work of a day and a half to tear down the roller box and replace the rollers that had been damaged. I suppose I could have sent back the bar and gotten a new one, but I didn't want the hassle, so I trimmed the paint with a razor blade and buffed it more or less smooth. Second, one of the holes for the bolts that hold the foot rests was drilled about 15 degrees off from horizontal. It would still take a bolt, but it was canted compared to the others. This had limited impact on use of the footrest, and since the only possible fix would be to return the whole 32kg rig to China and wait for a replacement, I decided to live with it. The only drawback is that the bolt is stressed unnaturally and has a tendency to break after eight or nine months -- I'm on my second replacement. Note: The bolts are Metric Grade 8.8, a medium quality carbon steel. I'm going to try the tougher, and more expensive, 12.9 grade and see how that works out. Both bolts broke with about an inch sticking out of the hole. I used an $18 DeWill Broken Bolt Remover (from Amazon) and they came right out. Having listed my major issues with the rower, let me go on to minor ones. The seat is a little hard, and gets uncomfortable after a while -- the fact that I weigh just over 230lb may have something to do with it. I bought a 2K Fit Rowing Machine Seat Cushion (Model 2), originally for the Concept 2 rower. It straps onto the existing seat, and is much more comfortable. The data display seems to be the low-end industry standard. It's the same as that on the Sunny. It doesn't have the bells and whistles of the higher end models, but it does give you the three basics: time (in minutes, rolling over at 100), strokes, and distance (in miles, not meters). It also gives you less helpful things like calories (useless, since it doesn't know how much I weigh or how old I am), and total strokes (of everyone who has used the machine, with no way to differentiate). As with the Sunny version, the labels on the frame don't match the actual order on the screen. Despite all of the above, I really like this rower. It sits out of the way against the family room wall, just in front of the TV. All I have to do is swing the end out, turn on a 26min anime episode, and I'm ready to row. It's quiet, and it has a good range of pull settings. In the last nine months I've put around 300,000 strokes on it, call it a thousand strokes per day. UPDATE: Amazon lumps both the magnetic and the water versions under this ID. Water version dimensions are quite different from the magnetic, and some of the information in the blurb is magnetic only. For example, the magnetic version DOES NOT work with the Kinomap bluetooth app, only the water version does. Be sure you are reading the right review.

Good quality for the money.
I generally only read one or five star reviews. I'm giving the rowing machine a five as the quality seems very good, sometimes too good. I'm 6' 2", 215 pounds and it accommodates my size with no difficulty. It's quiet, but heavy--which may not be a bad thing. The company painted all the fasteners, even those with allen-type heads. The problem with the paint is that it coats the inside of the head, making it difficult to insert the supplied allen wrench, but as long as you have a variety of allen wrenches, you can find one that fits--not a big deal. The unit sits very low to the ground; that's fine for younger folks, but at 80 years old with two knee replacements, it sat far too close to the floor. The fix was simple: I had two plywood boxes that are four inches high. I sat the legs of the unit on top of the boxes, which of course, raised the unit, making it much easier to mount. The slide action was very smooth and quiet, and I was able to fully extend my legs with each pull. The range of the resistance seems more than adequate: the low ends is an easy pull; the high end is very difficult for me. I like the rowing machine over a stationary bike as you work your arms and legs, and I think it's a better workout. I'd buy it again or recommend it to a friend.

Quality rower that does the job!
Over the years, I’ve owned a couple Concept2 rowers. I’ve moved a couple times and sold my rowers each time, thinking that I didn’t have room for them. I even had the “slides” to make the rowing feel more realistic. Those were quality rowers but the fan was very loud. I never realized how loud it was until I purchased this magnetic rower. It is so quiet! Why did I purchase a rower that is about $1,000 less than what I was used to? I purchased this rower because it had good reviews, it was $70 off the regular price and I wasn’t sure if I would be using it as much as I used my rower in the past. For less than $200, it wasn’t a huge decision. The rower came packaged extremely well. While I was cutting off tape from the packaging, I was thinking that if the rower is as good as it is packaged for shipping, it’s going to be of great quality! All pieces were protected nicely and the nuts, bolts, etc. came in a perfectly labeled package. I had no issues trying to decide how to put everything together. There weren’t too many parts and the directions were good. There are even a few videos that you can view online on how to put it together. I watched one that was about 3 minutes long and it covered the entire build. Really easy! The rower itself, is quality made. Since it is magnetic, it is very quiet. It feels smooth when rowing. I have no regrets. I even think back about the Concept2s that I have had and wonder why I spent so much money on them. They didn’t do anything differently. They were built well but nothing that made me look at them with awe. I am not a professional rower and I’m still not sure why they are regarded so well. Form is the most important aspect of rowing, so I will be cognizant of my form like always and this rower will do the job. I’m excited about rowing again and the fact that this rower is so quiet and it can also fold-up for storing out of the way, makes me really glad that I made this purchase.

Not bad but not good
Assembly was straightforward - probably 30 minutes and one person can do it with tools included (but real tools make it easier). The app is ok - the workouts seem to connect to device and track info well enough. For me, the coaches/guided sessions wouldn't play audio on any device I tried them on, which would mean the issue is with the app. Firstly, smaller than the picture leads you to believe; the buff model must be around 5'4 in order for the implied machine length to be correct to scale. Because of the short length, stroke length is limited and anyone 5'10 or taller won't like the movement at all. The mechanical components seem good enough - seat slides smoothly, resistance wheel is smooth as well. The seat isn't great - easy to come off it at the front and back of the movement. Pedals don't have adjustment for placement, meaning regardless of height and body type, foot position is the same, which compounds the next and probably biggest shortcoming. The head of the machine is too low and too close to the pedals for a proper rowing movement, especially on the return. I'm 5'10 and because the wheel is so low, I'm unable to use a proper form on the return without scraping the handle across my knees. The handle is also part of the problem with the return in particular - it's about six inches too narrow. The handle should be wide enough that your grip is outside your knees a bit on the return and this handle is so narrow that your grip will be right across ypur knee caps. The handle isn't replaceable; good machines use a clip system to allow changing handles, this one is permanently attached to the strap. Overall for occasional use, it's probably ok. If you're wanting a machine to help you get into rowing for exercise or training, this isn't the one. I'd recommend using some of the money spent on this machine to pay for a gym for a few months while you put the rest of the money towards saving for a better machine.

Great affordable rower
Howdy folks, the TL;DR of it is, I’m really glad I bought this rower. I got it on sale for $312. Gives a great cardio workout, doesn’t take up much space, is quiet, was decently easy to put together, not too hard to move around, and seems of nice enough quality. It’s not fancy like what you’ll use at a nice gym, and unfortunately it does NOT give you rowing strokes. I would have been upset about that, but I use an app where I’m watching someone row and I can keep pace with their strokes. I wish the bar was a few inches longer and slightly curved down. I’m of average fitness and have used it 5 times on resistance level 3. This gives me ability to grow to the highest resistance (8). I live in a very small space with another person and it tucks away into the corner in the upright position. Yes it’s still a bulky piece of workout equipment and is visible but I don’t care because it’s important to me to keep fit. One thing to note is that where the bar you sit on joins with the main body, it flexes down when I’m at the beginning of the stroke (so when my knees are fully bent). It seems okay and like it won’t break, but I’m going to keep my eye on it. In my opinion, as someone who is financially prudent, doesn’t go to a gym but relies on free activities or apps to stay fit, and who wanted a rower for years, this was worth my dollars. Rowing is fun, you should try it!
