On page 26, 2nd scenario, the author claims that the King under attack only has two options. There is a 3rd option: King captures attacking pawn since this unprotected. Also the strategies shown towards the end of the book lack explanation of the advantages gained by the strategy (in my opinion)!

This book is perfect for beginners learning chess. It is a comprehensive guide with information on the history of chess to help you appreciate the game. There are a list of frequently asked questions that answer queries such as “what is a stalemate?” and “what is the easiest and fastest way to checkmate an opponent?”. These frequently asked questions are really helpful to refer back to as a reminder of some common aspects of chess. The book contains useful information on chess rules and the purposes of the different pieces. I started to get into chess after watching The Queen’s Gambit and this book has been very helpful. There is even information on the different defences and checkmate strategies. I would say this book is perfect for beginners and beyond as it starts by introducing the game and then gets into some of the more complex concepts. It is a really good guide to have when learning chess.
