A8131 Single Swing Gate Opener - Support All the Power Modes

Great gate opener — it was straightforward to install, works flawlessly, and has made a real difference for my elderly dad as he no longer needs to get in and out of the car to open and close the gate. I also contacted customer services with a question and they were helpful and quick to respond. Highly recommended.

Just installed the A8132 gate opener on a wooden swing gate. Reasonably easy to install and good instructions provided by printed manual and video. The support online by Heidi from Topens has been excellent and positive. The only critism I have is that the video shows somewhat sketchy wire joining techniques e.g. twisting cables together and then using insulating tape. This is not appropriate for joints exposed to weather and is bad electrical practice. Apart from this minor and the fact that the Topen solar panels are not available via the UK Amazon site, I have no complaints.

The Topens A8131 Single Swing Gate Opener was my choice after searching many other makes and models. The A8131 is all that it says it is, “The A8131 provides excellent value for money with its durable design, advanced features, and competitive pricing for high-performance gate automation”. You can only purchase Topens on Amazon, but then Amazon is usually my first port of call. Their logistics and no-fuss return service, I find, are second to none. The A8131 was purchased for a complete refurbishment of our entrance gate and fence railings. Our entrance serves our property and a small touring caravan and motorhome site. The A8131 is designed to manage a gate weighing up to 400 kg. The five-bar metal gate I installed is 3.4m in length and 1.2m high, weighing significantly less than 400kg. However, you can feel that the motor is more powerful, allowing it to cope with a heavier gate. The A8131 comes as a package complete with post photocells, a warning light, and two remote hand control buttons. For safety and further weatherproofing, we fitted the Topens power and control box and power socket in an electric box adjacent to the photocell receiver post. Although Topens' customer service advised us, this was not recommended and could affect any wireless accessories being used. But the remote supplied works up to 50m from the electric box. Some manual work is involved, including digging shallow trenches to accommodate trunking that provides wiring between the gate posts for the sensors and warning light, as well as to the control panel in the electric box. We had to supply the electric box with armoured electric cable from our property to power the socket for the control panel, after installing the equipment and resolving a couple of teething problems. Contacting Topens' customer services, in our case, we were advised by Emilia. Having dealt with other companies' customer services in the past, Topens' customer service stood out, particularly in terms of their assistance and response time. And assured me help would be at hand if ever needed. All equipment is functioning satisfactorily, as per the instructions in the manual and the video link provided. With the coming and going of caravan and motorhome visitors, as well as courier deliveries, fitting keypads did not seem to be the best option, apart from the remote supplied, which is for our own use. We installed two Topen TEW vehicle sensor exit traffic wands, one for entry and the other for exit from the property. These were fitted as prescribed and are both working to plan, picking up any vehicles that pass by them. Both the A8131 and TEW are worthy of a five-star rating.

Great product and was straightforward to fit. The kit comes with everything you need for both pull to open and push to open fitments, the wiring was easy to get right and came with plenty of cable. The after sale support has also been fantastic - I had a niggle with one of the remotes which was resolved very quickly with no fuss at all. Really happy with it all

I installed this on a 12 foot wooden ‘farm gate’. It’s great! Shared driveway and works well for ourselves and neighbours. Clear instructions are provided by TOPENS but it does take time to install and careful consideration of the supporting installation diagrams to achieve optimal positioning of gate opener mounting is required. Confidence with basic electrics helpful but it is all low voltage which is forgiving to installer. Also needs confidence in handling the mounting nuts and bolts, and screws but by following the instructions we have a gate opener working well. TOPENS provides good support if it’s required

Very pleased with our TOPENS A8131 single arm electrical opener with the AC only option. It is a game changer. So easy to install, with basic home tools, DIY, excellent video with detailed steps and instructions. Really fast delivery and good quality. On top of that, I had some questions and the excellent support team answered them very quickly and efficiently - within minutes, even over a weekend! Many thanks to Zack for guiding me through this process. Will purchase the second arm in the future once we set up the electrical wires. Many thanks, very impressed and strongly recommended when you want an electrical arm and to be installed by yourself.

Great product and very good value for money when compared to other UK available suppliers. Had a few technical issues during my installation, however Customer Support was some the best I have experienced, with a dedicated adviser always available. E-mails were answered within 24 hrs, even at week-ends!! After performing a few tests as requested by dedicated support contact, she quickly established a fault component which was replaced on a next day delivery. Installation manual has a very wide range of clear instructions and the web site videos are clear and informative. Have no problems in recomending Topens to all my friends

Love this item, very strong and well made, fitted this with a friend reasonably easy, i did fit the control boxes in a electrical box to keep them dry, the gate works great, would definitely recommend.
