Accurate and Reliable Old-Fashioned Thermometer
The first thing that stands out about this thermometer is the price — I honestly don’t think you’ll find a better value for what it offers. It has that classic, old-style design that feels both simple and elegant, which is what initially caught my attention. After using it, I’ve found the readings to be consistently accurate and easy to read. And even if it ever seems slightly off, the calibration process couldn’t be easier: just loosen it a bit and adjust up or down until the measurement aligns correctly. This built-in adjustability makes the occasional inaccuracy a very minor issue. For anyone who appreciates the charm of a traditional thermometer and wants dependable performance without overpaying, this one is a great pick.

This is a real thermometer!

Solid product.
It was designed to be break-proof if dropped, and it looks it. The reading was a couple of degrees off. But you can zero that in by aligning the glass tube to the correct temperature with a simple push of the hand.

Not accurate...even4$ Buy top-rated digital instead. The price is doubling for "newer model"
And again… You can see that one of these is almost 10° difference. I could not in good faith recommend buying this ever it’s just a waste of money Updated again. I’ve bought a total of four. I returned one. Now, all three show different temperatures in the same area. I had them placed in an identical place in a room and they were 10° off of each other. Yes they’re inexpensive, but definitely not accurate. I’ve downgraded my review Updated. First I wanna say that for this bargain price it’s surprisingly accurate. But the replacement they sent me is almost as bad as the first one where the mercury doesn’t display properly...so you have to twist it around to see where the mercury lies. However it’s cheap and accurate. I upgraded my review to four stars. I bought two this time, and one of them doesn't display the red mercury. I'm going to try to return it. For the affordable price, the "older" model works perfectly for my household needs. I bought a really cheap one at Home Depot that doesn't have any accuracy. This one is quite accurate. I bought this along time ago and it’s been highly accurate, so I decided to buy more.

Most important is the outside temperature, but then precipitation. We're in the desert.
It is simple and I've had one all my life. I always place mine in the shade to get the most accurate temperatures in spite of what the TV tells me, but for my area so I know more accurately. This thermometer I have placed in the shade at our casita across the street so that visitors can know the temperature when they visit. I also have a rain gauge for offloading rainfall amount to Rainlog.org so I can see the distribution of rain. I wish it was nationwide.

OK after calibration
Many reviews claim this Taylor thermometer is inaccurate. My tests suggest that is correct. The problem may be that the tube is placed higher or lower in the mount depending on your particular unit. After I calibrated mine, I think it’s only about a half a degree off. Other than that, there are quality control issues I detail below. The metal construction is great, but I don't know I would buy it again. Out of the package, I put the thermometer in a pitcher of water at room temperature. Comparing it to a cheap digital meat thermometer, I found about a 2.5-degree difference, with the Taylor reading low. How do I know the meat thermometer is correct? I don’t. I also tried it with hot water, around 104 degrees F. I got similar results. Maybe it just needed to be calibrated. I tried to slide the tube up two degrees worth (heat expansion made that easier.) Then it read about a half degree off the meat thermometer. I don’t know if that is good or bad. Then I tried it with a digital oral thermometer. As long as the water was at about human temp, the readings disagreed by an average of .48 degrees (with several tries). So, that is about the best one can hope for with an inexpensive thermometer. But, remember, that was after calibration. One hopes it would give consistent results at cooler temps. As with any thermometer, if it is on the outside wall of a house, depending on where you place it, such as by a door, heat leaking from the house can influence the reading. I love that the housing is non-rusting aluminum, and that is the main reason I chose this model. My unit has some odd dark markings on or in the inner tube. One of them is especially noticeable, at about the 62-degree mark. It looks like a magnified degree marking, but it is not. It’s a magnified physical mark or impurity on the inside of the tube. However, it shouldn’t affect operation.

An easy read room temperature thermometer which helps you to adjust the level of airconditioner setting. It looks sleeks and blends with the interior. Besides it comes with a set of screws to mount it securely.

Enfin un bon thermomètre. Plusieurs que j'achète, ils ne font que une année ou deux. Celui-ci est en métal, il m'a inspiré confiance lorsque je l'ai eu en main. Rien à voir avec les trucs en plastique.

Quality of the product is good and sturdy. The readings are accurate to my knowledge (slight difference of +/-1 degrees depending on the location of the device) and can be seen easily. Highly recommended if you do not want a digital thermometer.
