A great book!
I was a little hesitant before buying this book because I had read all the negative reviews on Amazon that were saying that the tone of the book is bad and that the book jumps from topic to topic. I still decided to go ahead and buy it because my doctor recommended it. Well, quite to the contrary of what many negative reviews had been saying, I found this book to be well written and with a great sense of humor! Honestly, I have no idea what all those people mean when they say that the tone of the book is condenscending and that the book is designed to scare you by pointing out everything that can go wrong... This is just not true! In fact, I thought the tone of the book was quite the opposite and I've been enjoying reading it so far.I'll give you a specific example. One thing that was bothering me and that I was hoping to find answers to in this book was the fact that I had a few glasses of alcohol very early in my pregnancy (the first 2 weeks after conception) before I knew I was pregnant. I was expecting (after all those negative comments that I'd read!) the book to tell me what a bad mother I already am and how this has hurt my baby irreversibly. Well, to my surprise, the book said quite the opposite. Here are the exact words (4th edition, p.71, paperback): "Fortunately, it's a concern that you can cross off the list. There's no evidence that a couple of drinks on a couple of occasions very early in pregnancy, when you didn't even know you were pregnant, can harm a developing embryo. So you - and all the other moms who didn't get the message right away - can relax."All in all, this book is very informative, written in a style that anyone can follow and understand, it's full of jokes, and so far has given me answers to 99% of my questions. I am still not done reading this book because I'm still pregnant ;-) and I highly recommend the book to anyone!

Great book for first time moms!
I have bought several of these books and gifted them to first time moms. They all loved them! Being a first time mom is both a joyful and scary experience. You are filled with lots of questions that sometimes come at the weirdest hours when there's no one around to answer. Sure you can Google it but nothing beats having your entire pregnancy and it's related symptoms organized in a neat little book by trimester. During this emotional time, all new mom's want a go to book that can give accurate answers in a easy to read and understand layout that allows them to follow the development of their dear little one. Every mom wants to ensure that she's doing everything right to ensure a safe pregnancy and eventual delivery. I highly recommend this book and the hard cover version is even better. It can truly withstand the continuous usage and flipping through the pages by both mom and dad. Get this for your expectant friend and you won't regret it.

EVERY PREGNANT WOMAN NEEDS THIS!!
I used this book for all 3 of my pregnancies. All 3 were very different but I found so much of each stage of my pregnancies to be relative to the stages as described in this book! It's a classic and I think all woman should have this book when pregnant!!! I loved having it, knowing what could be expected, and having it to help me go through each term of being prego!! Love it... Get it for Yourself, git it to a friend! Its a must have <3

Informational
I bought the book because I really enjoyed reading it with my fist born. That was 9 years ago though. So I was looking for a refresher. I only like the week by week baby development information. I do not care for the rest though. Good book though.
